The Student Council is the legislative body of the high school The membership is composed of an allotted number of representatives elected by each high school organization, they coordinate the activities of the student body In their meetings they strive to observe rules of parliamentary procedure in an attempt to gam a fundamental background in this field They elect their own officers, who for the current year were: Wallace Giedt, President, Herbert Bauer, Vice-President, Ella Balliet, Secretary They also appoint the student treasurer, who handles the funds of all the school organizations, clears all requisitions, issues receipts, ond writes all checks As such responsibilities require a student of considerable ability and highest integrity, much discretion must be used in her selection For the present year, the Council selected Vera McMillin, who hos executed her duties in o very efficient monner. woiivicil

Its pur- pose, which it aims to achieve by not only modernizing his methods, but also by broodenmg his social outlook, is the improvement of the coming generation of American farmers. Each local chapter holds semi-monthly meetings Then in April of every year the state organ- ization sponsors a contest for these chapters. This contest consists mostly of judging farm products and q«ves the future former a wonderful opportunity to compare himself with other future farmers. Since their organization in 1933, the Leola Chapter has been very octive. They hove participated eoch year in the state contest, bringing back several winning ribbons. They also include in their yearly program a Father and Son Banquet At these they hove attempted to show their fathers their pur- pose and at the same time provide them with on evening of enjoyable entertainment.
