For most of the boys this was the first year that they had ever been on a wrestl- ing team. They lacked a lot of experience and were almost always considered underdogs. Being their first year, they usually wrestled in reserve meets but did wrestle a few var- sity matches. The leaders of this year ' s team were Bill Hicks, who had the record for die fastest pin in 20 seconds; Jon Stuck ey, who set the record for being pinned in the fastest 22 seconds; Glenn Gerke had the best individual record, 9-3; he also lead the team in points with 49 and re- corded the most pins of 4. This year ' s record was 1-8, but Coach Kerbal be- lieves that if there would have been more wrestlers participating that they could have beaten Woodlan, Busco, and Norwell. They lost all three of these close matches by forfeits. SPORTS 25
