CLASS PROPHECY St HISTURY Announcer CVernon Perojz And now, live from New York, the Xonel of 1959 presents Here is Your Life. Music: It'J Only the Beginning Announcer: C over musicj Tonight, July 14, 1969, we tell about the Principal of Lenox High School, Mr. Joseph Carroll, and his greatest class, the Class of 1959 Here is Your Life . And Mr. Carroll -- Music: CBackground themej MR. CARROLL: It's really a pleasure to hear that you are going to review my most successful class. For that reason, why not skip the preliminaries in the story of my life and bring us up to date on the class? Announcer: Very well Mr. Carroll, let's move along as we tell the story of the Class of 1959 of Lenox High School. Music: How the Time Flier Announcer: The members of the Class of 1959 became full fledged students of Lenox High School on September 14, 1955, when our first class meeting was held in Room 12, our home room, with Mr. Gilligan as our advisor. We elected our class oflicers for the year. Results of the election were: President, Sandra Hawkins, Vice-President, Ken MacFadyen,' Secretary, Jeannette Lebertg Treasurer, Earl Albert. Claudia LaDue and Ver- non Pero represented us on the Student Council. Most of this year was spent adjusting to our new surroundings and attending to our studies. Very few projects were undertaken. In our Sophomore year we moved into new home rooms. Some were assigned to Room 9 with Miss Kegaravat to advise us, others to the Science Room where the advisor was Mr. Regan and later Mrs. Turner. Our new President was Ken MacFadyen,' Vice- President, Earl Allzertg Secretary, Margaret Connellyg the Treasurers were Jeannette Lebert and jim Herrick. We also elected Patricia Fielding and Charlet 0'Brien to the Com- munity Center Advisory Council. During the year the class sold letterheads and held a very successful White Christmas Dance, which wasisemiformal. In the spring, a Record Hop, the first ever held in Lenox, was about as informal as you could get. The year closed with everyone in good spirits and all our bills paid. Oflicers for the Junior year were: President, Ken MacFadyen,' Vice-President, lame! Herrickg Secretary, Judy Ready Treasurers, Bertha H olmes and Lana Martin, and Student Council members, Alice Bernarconi and Tom Farnon. Later Tom Farnon resigned and Gordon Walker was elected in his place. Class Advisors were Mrs. Holmes and Miss Read and our Home Rooms 5 and 2. During the year the class sold Christmas Cards, conducted a bottle drive and a food sale, and held a very successful Junior Prom on Valentine Night. Earl Albert was crowned King of the Prom and Betty Kimball was chosen Queen. After the Prom the Lenox Kiwanis Club sponsored a party for the Prom 36 Trotters at the Community Center. Later on in the year we had several swimming parties at Eastover and held a Block Dance at the State Public Works Building in Lenox. It was a very exciting year. The oliicers during our last year at L.H.S. were: President, Ken MacFadyen,' Vice- President, Earl Albertg Secretary, lady Ready Treasurers, Bethan H olme: and Lana Marting and Student Council, Alice Bernasconi and Alexander Wylie. Our home room was Room I with Miss Mitchell. Early in the year we received our class rings, a long awaited thrill. Our Senior Play in December, directed by Mrs. Holmes, was a smash hit. During the year we had several swimming parties at Eastover. Our Banquet, Class Day, and Gradua- tion culminated our thoroughly enjoyable high school days. And that just about brings us down to june 12, 1959. Afterwards the class spread to many corners of the map, but tonight we have brought them back one and all to tell you just what they are doing. Watch them as they come through the golden door from your past, first, the world famous owner of a chain of men's hair stylists, Tom Fillio. Music: A Hunting We Will Go Yes, yes, Mr. Carroll, shake hands with him, you'll see him and all our guests later. But right now hold back that tear, for here comes one of the more famous members of the Class of 1959. Here she is - once a member of your Physics class, now a well-known talk-a-thon champion - Patricia Fielding and along with her, her able secretary and traveling companion, Margaret Connelly. Music: Yakety-Yak And of course you remember the girl who was editor of the 1959 Yearbook and who is now in complete charge of the largest magazine publishing syndicate in the world, Mir: Betty Kimball. Music: CAs Betty enters smilingj It'.r All in the Game That's right Betty, shake hands with Mr. Carroll and take your seat. Next we meet the great mathematicians who worked out the resistance that the gas jet offers to the tooth- pick. And here they are, the top test pilots for Universal, whose assignment is to blow out the pilot light on every gas range the company makes. We now present -- Peter C orti, Nick Maturevich and Dave Crittendon. Next come the three girls from the Class of 1959 who still live in Lenox and are happily married. Among them they have a total of twelve children, some of whom are ahnost ready to attend dear old L.H.S. They are Jeannette Lebert, Bertha H olmer and Ratb- ann Corbett. Music: Love and Marriage And from Lenox Dale, just South of Lenox, arrives another happy bride, the girl with a smile and a kind word for everybody, Lana Martin. Music: Centrance themej Y01l,llN206f Walk Alone 37 Here's a hanky, Mr. Carroll. Dry your eyes so that you can see our next guest. It's your old student, Judy Read, just in from her latest and greatest race at Indianapolis Speedway. Music: Lone Ranger theme from the William Tell Overture Today, whenever a member of the Class of l959 wants a real Italian dinner, he or she heads for one of the nationwide chain of restaurants operated by our next guests, also from the Class of 1959, Misses Alice Bernarconi and Patricia Mariano. They are accom- panied by the Maitred'hotel, Gordon Walker. Music: E C urnpari And every business needs secretaries. Here are other 1959 graduates, Misses Edith Sohl and Virginia Healey who work in the main offices of the restaurants in Chicago and Los Angeles, respectively. Music: Come On to My House The building from which we are broadcasting was designed by now famous architects and appointed by interior decorators from this class. Here are the architects - Claudia LaDue and Al Marchand and the interior decorators, Brenda Reynoldr and Patricia Patten. I know that all of us were surprised by the giant merger a few years ago when General Motors joined with Ford Motor Company. In one sweep let's meet the man who arranged the whole thing, the new president of the corporation and the prominent journalist who gave the story coverage in all prominent papers of the country. Here are: Union Nego- tiator, Earl Alhertg President of the Board, Tom Farnon, and newspaperman Alex Wylie. Music: Marche Militaire We'll be back with more guests in just a moment, but right now - a message from our Sponsor. Here to speak for the Ken MacFadyen Sporting Goods company is our good friend Carol Rohertr with a message about Ken's specialty, a throwing javelin designed especially for women. Kathy Quinn will demonstrate it. Music: Around the World in Eighty Dayr Unfortunately, two members of the class couldn't be here tonight but 1et's remember them anyway. First, is lim Herrick who it taking a vacation from the Herrick Furniture Corporation and is traveling with his family in' Europe. The second is France! Hunt, a well-known author of several best selling books, who is now in the Belgian Congo gathering material for her new novel, I Was a Zula Witch Doctor for the F.B.I. Good luck to both of them. Well, that's just about it for tonight. Mr. Carroll is sobbing too hard to say it, but I know he has been moved by the success of this class and he is as glad as I am to see them. Til we meet again, this is your announcer, Vern Pero, saying good-bye and good luck from New York. Music: Good-hye, Good Luck and God Blerr You. 38 THE LENOX HIGH YEARBOOK VOLUME XVII PUBLISHED BY THE CLASS OF 1959, LENOX HIGH SCHOOL LENOX, MASSACHUSETTS YEARBOOK STAFF EDITOR ELIZABETH KIMBALL ASSISTANT Alexander Wylie ART STAFF Claudia LaDue Alfred Marchand LITERARY STAFF Vernon Pero Ruthann Corbett Jeanne Lebert FINANCE Lana Martin SPORTS Patricia Fielding James Herrick TYPING Judy Read Alice Bernasconi Edith Sohl Patricia Mariano PHOTOGRAPHY Thomas Farnon BUSINESS Margaret Connelly ADVERTISING STAFF Bertha Holmes Frances Hunt Carol Roberts ADVISOR Miss Ann Mitchell CLASS OF 1959 L, to R., First row: Patricia Mariano, Carol Roberts, Margaret Con- nelly, Virginia Healey, Edith Sohl, Ruthann Corbett, Frances Hunt, Alice Bernasconi, Jeannette Lebert.
