Coach Rider's team was seeded as the number two Q BASKETBALL W...-Zi!,.,.. 654411479471 HIRTY FIVE boys answered the first call for basket ball practice on the night of November 12 After a weeks tryout the squad was cut to a workable S179 of twenty The Tiger squad was made up of the following boys FORWARDS Charley Gray B111 Terry Elvis Mendenhall Harold Brokaw Gene Rogers and Jack Gray CENTERS Russell Gordon and Vernal Thompson GUARDS Melvin Howard Gene Hanson Dean Knodle B111 Teply Jim Ford Raymond Straight Reldon Key Ed win H111 Phil Ranck Fred Haynes Jake Walters and Ray Nixon This year s Tiger team was a very young and inexper ienced outfit with only two seniors on the entire squad those boys playing the more dominnant rolls in the start- ing line-up coming from the Freshmen, Sophomore and Junior classes. Therefore all indications point toward very good Tiger teams for the next three years. As can be seen from the season's record, the tigers were an in and out team , losing to teams they should have beaten and winning from teams that looked better on paper . team in the Taylor County Basketball tournament only to get knocked off in the first round by an inferior New Market team that they should have beaten by twenty points. The Tigers failed to win any of the three Blue Grass Conference games they played, however, they did defeat Leon 22-14 in the Blue Grass Conference jamboree 11eld at Mt. Ayr early in November. AS of February 1 the Tigers had a record of 7 w1ns and 9 losses Following lS a result of the season s record up to Feb 1 1947 Lenox Lenox Lenox Lenox Lenox Lenox Lenox Lenox Lenox- Lenoxf Len0xA Lenoxf Lenox-50 Lenox-24 LenoxA32 Lenoxf25 Lenox4-26 Sharpsburg 23 R1chland 31 Afton 26 Exira 28 Leon 14 Clearfield Shannon City 2 Cromwell 34 Richland-35 Clearfie1df22 Orientf35 Mt.
