HE YEAR IS 1951 I have completed my study and hard dlllgent work at the Rocket Research Labora torles 1n the eastern part of the Unlted States Now I am ln a pos1t1on to contmue my llfes work Together wlth everal other lmmlnent sclentlsts I am to have the prlvllege of attemptlng to conquer space ln a speclal rocl et shlp Plans have been carefully worked out to the pomt that I know I w1ll leave th1s earth 1n a couple of weeks Therefore I wlsh to journey through th1s land that IS called Amerlca and especially to VlSlt the town w h1ch shall always be the home town to me the town of Lenox My trlp was to brlng me together I hoped wlth some of my old frlends and classmates W1th the thought ln my mlnd that two weeks would dlsappear very qulckly I made ready to journey the fol lowmg day My travelmg started the followmg mornlng brlght and early It occurl ed to me that perhaps I should vlslt the Rocket Plant where final preparations were be mg made on the sleek shlp that was to carry my compan 1ons and me through space I arrlved at the plant 1n m1d afternoon and after showlng my 1dent1ficat1on papers I was escorted to the mner hub of the plant There to my amazement was an old classmate of mme It was Gene Hanson one of the ace w elders and Chl6f lnspectors of the Rocket After a hearty handshake we had a fine chat Gene lt appeared to me had done all rlght for h1mself He had a fine w1fe and was the proud father of a fine lad of a year and a half As he would not take no for an an swer I dmed that evenlng at the modest Hanson house hold and after one of the finest dlnners I have ever eaten we spent the evening dlscussmg old tlmes Wlth a partlng handshake and a final farewell I con tlnued on my journey for the tlme would qulckly fly I drove south along the Atlantlc coast and the followlng day I was greeted by a huge WhlfP Slgn along the hlghway WhlCh read very boldly Amerlcan Saddle Ranch F1nest to see lf th1s was the samt Paul Ross that had been my school pal Sure enough lt was We enjoyed a fine talk and Paul lnformed me that he was very happlly marrxed to a fine southern belle I had the wonderful opportunlty of vlewlng Pauls beautlful ranch of lmmaculate bl1lldll'lgS on rollmg grass lands Thls w as a VICW I would long re member and as we patted I reallled that there was one fellow classmate who as a lover of fine horses had aChl9V9d hxs goal The mxles sped by untll the clty of Charleston loomed up While crulsmg through the tree lmed streets I no tlced a clrcus ln full swlng Stopplng my car I notlced Rlnglmg Bros ptlnted on the SICIQS of the tents and shows Well th1s I wanted to see I walked by one of the shows and chanced to see SIQHS advertlslng lf One slgn read Ed Hlll worlds strongest man for h1s S128 VS as th1s the same man I had known as Ed H111 of dear old Lenox Sure enough It was Ed and we enjoyed a fine chat before hlS performance w hlch I had the prlvllege of watchlng Then contmumg onward I journeyed untll at length I arrlved at a very large w h1te manslon Here I stopped for th1s w as the home of Mr John A Cabw alldar III one of the Souths greatest plantatlon owners I proceeded from my llmousme up to the house At the door I was greeted by Mr Cabw alxdal s VK1f9 the former Phyllis Sex ton my classmate from the class of 47 We enjoyed a very pleasant YISII and Phyllls related that she w as a can dldate for the state leglslature VV1shmg Phyllls the best of luck I proceeded on my w ay SENIOR CLASS PHOPHECY Q Pomtmg my roadster toward Florlda I headed for the coast and the home of Mr Elllot Rlchards the world re nowned fisherman who fished solely wlth a harpoon I arrlved at the beautiful home and was met by the one per son I had drlven down to see the wlfe of Mr Rlchards the former Bonme McFee It seems that she accompamed h1m on all h1s fishmg excurslons for whlle he was trylng to harpoon the blg ones Bonme could keep the boat on lts correct course Old txmes were dlscussed and I spent sev eral fine hours v1s1t1ng wlth Bonme and her husband but the followmg mornmg found me on my way west and after a few days of hard drlvmg I drove mto the cxty of New Orleans My destlnatlon was the world famous Inn ln New Or lean town as Paullnes Place owned and operated by Paullne Knox It was not hard to locate the Inn or Paul me elther We had a happy greetmg and we dmed and spent the evemng VlSlf.ll lg over past famillar brlck school house wlth 1ts generous wmdows stood erect and as fine as ever Drlvlng on through the suburbs I drove to the mam part of town the old famlllar mam street As I drove down th1s well known pavement my eyes rested on a huge neon sxgn whlch flashed Floy and Dales Groc er Immediately I stopped to lI'lV9Stlgat9 for perhaps th1s mlght be two of my old schoolmates As I stepped through the door my eyes rested upon the famllxar face of Dale Smlth After the usual greetlngs Dale lntro duced his charmmg wlfe the former Floy Beck who was by no means a stranger to me as we had been classmates m school Then to my surprlse what should I see peer mg around the door but two young rosy faces' Dale ln formed me that they were lxttle Smlths and proud he was for thev were twms As I gazed around the store I could see that Dale knew how to run a grocery and lt was easy to see why Dale was one of the town s leadmg business men I spent perhaps one of the happxest afternoons I have ever spent vlsltmg over old tlmes wlth Dale and Floy Durlng the evening I drifted across the street to the local recreatlon parlor There behmd the taps was none other than Gene Trost He mformed me that he had the prevlous season played and taken first honors ln the Na tlonal B1ll1ards Tournament at Mllwaukee Well we had a fine talk Gene sand that he had mtended to take up law but th1s bar
