HALLOWEEN Lenoir-Rhyne students celebrated Halloween in several different ways this year. Some attended the festivities held in the Center which were sponsored by Mauney-Schaffer Dorm. The activities included an ugly contest, a pumpkin carving contest, and the showing of the movies. Alien and Friday the 13th. Free popcorn and drinks were provided for all those in attendance. While the people in the Center were being scared by the Alien, other students were enjoying the Costume Parties sponsored by several Lenoir- Rhyne Fraternities. These parties featured contests for the best costumes, many of which were very creative and eye-catching. Whether at the Center or at the Costume Parties, Lenoir-Rhyne stu- dents seemed to have a spooky yet wonderfully funfilled Halloween night. 22 On Campus

L-R TODAY L-R Today is the weekly television program about Lenoir-Rhyne which is produced and written by Rick Strunk and Lisa Nirider, publicity directors at L-R. The show ' s director is Chip Hammond, Media Tech- nician at L-R. Lisa, Rick, and Chip receive assistance from several quite capable L-R students in preparing and taping the show. These students are: Lora Gun- sallus, reporter; Gina Mayes, assistant features editor; Pam Martin, assistant director; Jennie Strube, cam- era operator; Alan Puch, camera operator; and Myra Jenkins, floor manager. The host of the program is Dr. Ellis Boatman, a history professor at L-R. The taping of the show takes place each Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 in the television studio located in the library. This year, for the first time, the new set de- signed and built by Professor Ray Mills of the Theatre Dept. and Chip Hammond, is being used. L-R Today airs on Cable TV Channel 8 on Thursday night at 7:30 pm. The purpose of the show is to inform the public of what is happening at L-R. Each show consists of one or more guests, a calendar of upcoming events at L-R, sports stories, and a feature story presented in maga- zine style. The guests are usually students or members of the Lenoir-Rhyne faculty, staff, or administration. The shows are always interesting, entertaining, and informative. It is well worth one ' s time to watch L-R Today regularly. On Campus 23
