Great In Future — Classroom Building, Fine The future of Lenoir-Rhyne is bright with promise. New changes in the academic core curriculum are in the offing, a vital May Term, new courses in Business, and the academic challenge offered by the Lineberger and Broyhill institutes. The face of the campus will also be changed in the years that lie ahead. The renovation of the Rhyne classroom building will soon get underway. The renovating will in- clude air-conditioning, the modifications of classrooms, and genera! face-lifting to the entire structure. A new classroom building is to be built adjoining Rhyne. The new structure will include an amphitheatre seating up to 300, which will permit a single large classroom when needed, or ample dividers to break the room up into smaller units. A large complex of faculty offices will also be included in the new classroom building. It is expected that the present Yoder building will be razed to provide room for the new structure. The third component of the anticipated building project will be the construction of an addition to the Rudisill Library to house 20-25 student seminar rooms and learn- ing resources. The college is well on its way to completing a catalog of all college-owned print and non-print learn- ing resources, most of which will be housed in the new building. The future of LR also holds the exciting promise of a Fine Arts Complex. This structure, proposed for the space adja- cent to Monroe auditorium on the present site of North Hall, would feature a Little Theatre seating some 225 peo- ple. The theatre would be used for arena-productions by the playmakers and also for chapel programs and similiar meetings. The Fine Arts building would also contain an art gallery, classrooms and storage areas. To join with the new Shuford Building would be a sports complex that would feature a proposed Field House, to be constructed in the area next to Morgan Dorm. It is an- ticipated that five new tennis courts would be added, a track would be built, and numerous renovations made to present College Field. When completed, these new addi- tions would give Lenoir-Rhyne one of the most handsome sports arenas in the nation. One can not help but be anxious and delighted as the future is contemplated.
