Founded in 1891, the institution, now in its 89th year of service, is affiliated with the Lutheran Church in America. Mihy great teachers, administrators, and alumni have poured their lives Into making the soul of the college. They have carried it through lean years as well as full ones. They add much to our past The noble heritage of Lenoir- Rhyne will be the subject of the HACAWA in the 75th anniversary edition of the yearbook in 1983 and in the Centennial of the college in 1991. The present is exciting. New programs, new buildings, new career opportunities, new frontiers have been undertaken to make LR an active community of. learning. While this issue of the HACAWA does deal with both the past and the future, ft k understandably the present that occupies most of our pages. ™ ™.i™„ The future should be a great one. Plans have been formulated to strengthen the college ' s finances, to enrich many of its programs, to add still further to our attractive physical plant, and to remain committed to a church-— related stance. We hope you enjoy your yearbook and derive from it seffljiiy the sense of challenge that we felt as we constructed its pagiefs. The present for Bear Country is something to brag about and we have tried to do just that. May in this fleeting glance at the rich un- folding story of Lenoir-Rhyne ColEege you also be proud of tha t fair star of Caroline that is our Alma Mater,
