H The two hall commissions, one tor the men ' s dormitories and one for the women ' s dormitories, are elected bv and froin the mem- bership oF the house councils. An intet ral part of the present Constitution, they ha e the au- thority to try students charged with iolations of dormitory regulations, and act as counsels to the head residents. The main project under- taken by the hall commission this year has been the effort to combine the three existing commissions into the one proposed student commission. STUDENT COURT 1 o hear and to try anv student charged with an ot the major Constitutional violations— dishonesty, gambling, ' andalism, or intoxication— is the duty of the Student Court. The court is made up of the President and the Vice-President of the Student Body, plus a representati ' e from each class, as appointed bv action of the Student Phillips, Counts, Cabinet. I he court can declare a trial open or closed to public attendance. In this past year of adjustment and unification within the student governing bodies, the de- cisions of the Student Court have favorably demonstrated the deep sense of responsibility and loyalty that the Lenoir Rhvne communitv feels toward her new Constitution. DAY COMMISSION Created by the Constitution as the governing body for Lenoir Rhyne ' s day students, the Day Commission con- sists of a day student delegate to Student Cabinet from each of the four classes. As a judicial body, the Dav Com mission has the resjxjnibility of trying at a closed trial any day student accused of some infraction other than gambling, dishonesty, vandalism or intoxication. This year the Student Cabinet appointed the members of the Day Commission to be a special committee to in ' estigate the needs of day students in becoming more a part of the acti -ities on campus. left to riglit: Kanipe.
