1 The search for knovrledge — this is why we are here. Our common purpose finds expression in diversity — from eight o ' clock classes to midnight research papers — spending many afternoons in the library and evenings in bull sessions. There are times of frustration when darkness clouds our understanding — and moments of exhilaration when we first grasp a truth, knowing it to be ours as much as his who first stated it. We come to the conviction that knowledge lies not so much in memorization of facts as in the realization that education is a constant striving.
