Foreword For fifty years the Hacawa has reflected the progress and development of a greater Lenoir Rhyne. The 1958 ' olume marks the golden anniversary ' of a vearbook which, since 1909, has unveiled the intimate storv of her student life. Although this current edition bears little tangible resemblance to its original ancestor, the objective has re- mained the same: In and around these centers, the 1909 book reads, the whole studen t life is here. The Hacawa is an emanation from the work, play, joys, trials and triumphs of the entire college for the vear. The eight seniors compiled the first ninety-page book, present- ing, perhaps, one-tenth the material contained herein. In your hands is the culmination of the endeavors of a fortv- five-member staff and their predecessors.
