Within these HAIls, C ' Ampus, and WAlls are hving memories, and these memories all mirror a prosperous 1955- 1956. The hopes and prayers for expansion began to materialize: A successful campaign for $1,500,- 000 was experienced; construction on the audito- rium and gvm was begun; a $147,000 gift from the Eord Foundation was received; new teachers came while our old ones were away better preparing themselves to help us. Educational advancement was ours. We strode high in other fields . . . One of Dr. Keiser ' s debators became the United States national champion in extempore speaking; his debate teams kept up the good work that began many years ago; the Playmakers gave a pleasing presentation of The Heiress ' to first-nighters; Coach Stasa ' ich with his assistants guided our football team to the North State Championship, and a triumph in the second annual Palmetto Bowl . . . Our social life was highlighted bv a dance bv nationallv prominent bandleader Buddv Morrow . . . The eflecti eness of religious organ- izations was seen: the Religious Council did a re- markable job, as usual, in the preparation and presentation of Student Ser ' ices and Religious Emphasis Week . . . The Chapel Committee of- fered us many excellent speakers . . . The vear 1955-1956 was a jovous, prosperous, wondrous ad- dition to our life. The memories vill linger . . . As we recall this past vear, let us as Dr. Cromer wrote earlier, Reioice, give thanks, and march on! Pntje Eioht
