In the standings u ' hich included all games during the season they also finished in the number three slot, register- ing live wins, four losses, and one tie. Captain Frank Barger was selected at guard position on the co ' eted team lor the third time during his college career. Frank Little, a first-vear man, was named at end, and lohn Charles, also a freshman, was a halfback choice on the mythical team. Captain Barger re- ceived honorable mention for the all-state team. In h ' hn Charles, Lenoir Pihyne produced one of the best freshman liacks and one of the highest scoring men who has donned a Bear uniform in many years. Scoring a total of fortv-eight points chiring the season, this triple threat tailback was in no small way responsible for the success of the l)ruins this season. In the forward wall the other outstanding men were: ends, Hanley Painter, Charles Jones, and William Coyne; guards, alternate captain Shu Carlton, Carl Wakefield, and Claude White; tackles, John Odum, Lee Confer, and Fred McCall; and centers, Raymond Camp and M. C. Abee. Haywood Martin ' s punting and line-bucking and Gene Miller ' s passing along with Charles ' elusive running were the noted spectacles in the backfield.
