RETURNERS ARE KEY TO SEASON The 1981 Softball team was again this year loaded with ex- perience and talent. Their list of All-League candidates included, Lisa Louise Mann, Noemi Rivera, Dennisse Mercado, Sharon Washington, and Lisa Trespalacios. At the helm was second year Coach Wheeler, who told the Troubador reporter, ‘‘Our goal is to try to make it to the CIF play-offs again this year; he also stated that the team had the potential, and ability to reach it.” Captains of the team are Sharon Washington and Dennisse Mercado. 1. Fighting Lancers have high hopes The 1981 Varsity baseball team can best be sum- marized as a young team with great potential. In prac- tice games, the Lancers gathered wins against Char- minade, Cathedral, St. Monica, and Norbonne to enter league compteition with a 4-2 record. The roster in- cluded two sophomores and five juniors, pitchers Fer- nando Fernandez, Timmy Nelson and Craig Gutman are showing fine ability, and are destined for a good future at LHS. Other players displaying talent were Anthony Hampton, Tom Nelson, Florentino Sierra, Leonard Trujillio, Mirk Merencio.
