ANOTHER GREAT SEASON FOR VARSITY TENNIS Although the Varsity Tennis Squad was weakened by the graduation of most of their players, several of the returning members were outstanding throughout the season. Senior Carlos Culqui led the team as the Number One player who helped the Lancers stay on top of the opposing schools. An- other singles player who did overall was Alphonso Cameron, a junior. On the Doubles Squad, Ruben Magdaleno and Jonathan Erhardt did an outstanding job defeating schools who were supposedly ‘‘superior’’ to Lennox. Overall the Varsity Tennis Team had a successful season even though some matches were lost. Head Coach Marian Kovinick hopes that more people could come out and play tennis and help the Squad be undefeated. 1. Ruben Magadaleno, number one doubles player, carefully tips ball over net, scoring another point for Lennox. 2. Carlos Culqui demonstrates his strong backhand that led him to be most valuable player. 3. JV’s give it all they got Though most of the JV’s tennis squad is made up of Freshmen ... Sophomore Romeo Plascencia and Junior Dennis McGregor try to keep the JV’s looking good. Much help came from freshmen Victor Gonzales who won most of his tennis matches. Though the JV’s did not end up as they would have liked they did have a good season thanks to Chris Roles a magnificent coach and a former Lancer Tennis player. 1.
