Everyone and everything looked so big we were known as ‘‘Punky Freshman’ and even though we thought we had graduated into a much higher and sophisticated world, we found ourselves at the bottom of a four place totem pole. We looked up at the sophomores even though they were just one year older than us. And we envied the Juniors—they had cars and seemed to dress in style. We idolized the seniors, and were in awe everytime one - walked into the room. I remember how close we all were then—we needed each others support to make it through each day. I remember how on graduation night we collected the gowns, and felt so honored at being kissed on the cheek by some of the graduating senior guys. Our sophomore year was a lot different. We were still close, yet we started to drift our separate ways. Our junior year showed some improvement. Our class began to come out of the woodwork and unite as one, like we once were. We all stuck together as we went through the emotions of almost being seniors. We made big plans of how the class of 81 was going to go in style. Graduation that year was a little bit more emotional. Even though it wasn’t our graduation many of our boyfriends, girlfriends, brothers and sisters graduated and it threw us into the shock of reality that we were next. On the first day of our senior year, most of us still felt like juniors, yet we knew we had finally reached the top. Now that we are here, now that we are envied by the freshman we realize that our year is only as great as we make it. We were close again like we were when we started as freshman at this small, but wonderful school. We vowed to stick together this year and drift apart no further than we already had. This year has brought upon many happy and sad times. We finally realized in the 3rd quarter of our last football game against Miraleste that it was the last time we would all be together cheering for the Lennox Lancers. We ee e - ourselves from crying by reminding ourselves that we still had basketball season. T. last basketball game wasn’t as emotional as we had expected. We creamed El Segundo and had a great half-time performance by our pep squad. Graduation is . right around the corner yet we all pretend we don’t notice how quickly time is : passing. Most of us are glad to be graduating, yet there are a few like myself who ARON POD EOL LED EEL GI IEEE A NAH wish they could hold on to this year suspended in time forever. But we all know that we must go on and that the memories we have from these past four years will hold many more memories. Graduation night is here-I walk down the aisle past the flower girls. I see my mother-she snaps a picture of me. As I arrive at my seat, everyone has on great big smiles. I see my fellow classmates filing in. I have a feeling of sadness, yet a feeling of great fulfillment and happiness, as they hand out the diplomas. I feel the end coming near. It is time to turn our tassels ... It seems we've come so far, yet we’ve only just begun . . RA) AAR REAM Nile: $I MG es presented by class of ’81 142
