Mr. Robert Reed, Isabell, Mrs. Reed and Lynda are pictured below. 7 Dear Friends from Lenape, It's an exciting year I have spent here, learning so much from you about American life and ideas. Most of the differ- ences I found come from our educational systems. In my Ly- cee in Tarascon of Southern France I had to take twelve sub- jects and an exam every three months which determined pro- motion. It's not, as here, the center of social life: all the clubsl belonged to ftennis, riding, skiing, dance, and moviesj were not part of my school. At home we have a big old house sur- rounded by vineyards, my father is a wine producer. Here I live in Ramblewood with the Robert Reeds, Lynda is my Amer- ican sister. If the way of living may seem different because of all the modern advantages and facilities you possess, I found affection and a wonderful family life which made me feel at home since the beginning. Before leaving, we'll have an A.F.S. trip in some states of the U.S.A. and I will learn more about your country. But all of the real experiences I take with me back to France will be from Lenape and my home here. And itis for this marvelous year that I want to thank all of youl .iislatlq EXCHANGING IDEAS WITH ISABELLE AND MANUEL Life at school was an important part of the whole Ameri- can Field Service program for me. Here at Lenape is where I have made more friends and where I have met more young people than anywhere else during this year. Through Lenape and through my family fthe Robert Payntersj I have come to know a little but important part of America and its way of life. I hope you will have learned something of Spain from me. School here is not like it is in Barcelona. There we have more subjects, no electives, and a large number of stu- dents in each class. The relationship between teachers and students is not so friendly as it is here. We do not have so many activities or serious sports practice either. I have learned to know and like Lenape, from the most difficult test to the funniest pep rallyl And I thank you Lenape, teachers, students, and administration, all of you, because you have really made me feel at home here.
