HARRY KLOOS Algebra II, Math IV MISS PATRICIA CANTRELL Geometry MATH DEPARTMENT I The advantages of a Ncontemporary Mathematicsw pro- gram is that the WHY of mathematics is stressed as well as the HOW. The uwhyn is of utmost importance because knowing Hwhym enables the student to study mathematics independ- ently throughout life. In our civilization the areas of knowl- edge are constantly expanding and this expansion brings with it new problems which require mathematical solutions 3 perhaps even involving mathematics which is not known to- day. For this reason, the teachers of the Mathematics Depart- ment strive not only to teach the math of today, but how to study mathematics so that their students will be able to learn whatever new mathematics will be required of them in the future. 28 MR RICHARD BRYFOGLE Algebra I
