LENAPE MAINTAINS ITS TRADITION AS A BASKETBALL POWER Lenape's Varsity squad started its season rather slowly, losing five of its first seven games, most of them by only one or two field goals. After the Kennedy game, however, the team began to pull together as a single unit. It seems the boys had lost the awareness of what they could get out of the game for themselves. The Indians progressed amazingly, losing only two of their last twelve games. They gained momentum and confidence as their defensive abilities sparkled and Steve Riley reached the coveted 1000 point mark in his high school career. Although this was the smallest ball club Lenape has previously had, it demon- strated hustle and desire, which are essential for a winning combination. VARSITY ROW 1: J. Ellis, T. Cahill, J. Warner, H. Wilson, M. Warner, S. Smith. ROW 2: P. Greer, K. Cramer, B. McCutcheon, S. Riley, R. Hurwitz, R. Smith, A. Hilemang Coaches, Caputo, Crane. 169
