DEFENSE ROW 1: Bob Tavenier, Bob Roswell, Bill George Leninger, Jon Geisler, Jerry Bisignano, Lee Hays- Pogson, Ed Brendell, Bob Jones. ROW 2: Bob Smith, lip, Dale Ellis. In l965 the Indians sulfered another losing sea- son with a 3-6 record. Under the direction of Head Coach Bill Foltz the players practiced long and hard and always contended to win. From the standpoint of both the participants and spectators the best game was the hard-fought l2-6 victory over Palmyra. What appeared at half- time to be a tremendous defeat for the Pal's, de- veloped into Lenape's most rugged contest. Although the team was unable to demonstrate a great deal of overall strength, there were many outstanding individual efforts. John O'Neal, our 163 leading running back, was chosen for the All- County team, along with Dale Ellis, a hard-tackling defensive end. The Unsung Hero award was presented to Jerry Bisignano, a fiercely competitive middle linebacker. The County League's Good Sportsmanship award was given to the entire team. Winning has been considered by many as the essense of the game, however the taste of defeat is sometimes just as essential to the development of the athlete and student. A deep sense of sportsmanship and love of Football was iirmly im- planted in the memories of the Varsity squad.
