Success of failure of Lenape's literary magazine, the LAU- REATE, depends on the co-operation ofthe student body be- cause everything in the publication is created and edited by teenagers. When many people take a little time and trouble to submit an original piece, thc LAUREATE finds it easy to pre- pare an issue worthy of the traditions of our school. One of the LAUREATES main objectives is to recognize the talents of the students and to give them a showcase where they may develop these talents. Few opportunities like this present themselves outside of school. Unparticipating students may acquire an appreciation of literature through the literary efforts of their classmates. A YEAR TO REMEMBER Producing a yearbook such as the 1966 LEGEND which is our largest yearbook, requires an unestimable number of hours of hard work. With approximately 120 faculty, 2200 students, and 100 staif members in our school, it was no easy task to collect pictures, names, and copy for everyone. Com- plete coverage of our vast activities and athletic programs evoked unlimited perseverance from the yearbook staff. Pro- curing advertisements was ably done by our business staff, and yearbook sales reachednan all time high of 1650. In spite of some setbacks all was accomplished. Sometimes E-108 be- came a room staff members learned to dread, but other times the companionship and warmth of fellow workers made all the eifort worthwhile. Of all activities in a high school the year- book gives its creators the most satisfaction. This book will al- ways be present to remind those who produced it of their creative endeavors, their successes and failures, and the joys of working together. 147
