God wanted him here where the little ones meet, Said the children up In Heaven. He shall play with us on the golden street; He has grown too fair, he has grown too sweet For the earth we used to live In; He needs the sunshine, this dear little boy. That guild this side of the gates of pearl, Said the children up In Heaven. Far down on the earth do you hear them weep? Said the children up In Heaven. For the dear little boy who has gone to sleep; The shadows fall and the night-clouds sweep O'er the world we used to live In, But we'll go and open the gates of pearl. Oh, why do they weep for their dear little boy? Said the children up In Heaven. Fly up with him quickly, angels dear I Said the children up In Heaven. See! He Is coming! I may not reach thorn, but 1 Can look up and see them and try to follow where they lead. This years Sr class began their formal education as cute little kindergartenets way back in 1973. A few have attended lenapah for all of their school years. Some have filtered in from various point through out the state as the years quickly went by. South Coifeyville added to the class in 1983 as sophs. A couple maybe came from other worlds as we can only watch wonder. But as all roads eventually led to Lenapah for this group of young people they have come together as one, to form the CLASS OF 86 ............... The transition is complete, from cute little kindergartener thrust ihto a world of strangers challenges, to young adults who are again about to be trust in to a world of strangers new challanges This time they are hopefully more per- pared to met those challenges as we suiely hope the world is prepared to meet them................ Tony hopes for two points. This is. the best team I’ve ever had,” said Eagle coach A Tom Stewart, who is in his sixth season as head coach. Playing a major role in Lena-pah’s success this season has been 5-foot-10 senior Sara Turney. The team’s leading scorer, Turney is averaging 35.8 points per game. Also starting on the offensive end are 5-7 sophomore Lynn Voyles, a 12 ppg scorer, 5-8 senior Kelly King, 5 ppg, and 5-4 sophomore Roz Matthews, 3 PPg- Manning the often-unher-alded defensive positions are 5-8 senior Traci Porter, the conference’s defensive player of the year last season, 5-9 senior Leigh Gillespie, and 5-4 sophomore Angie Ross. “These girls don't get a whole lot of recognition because of our half-court rul- s,” said Stewart. “But they have been outstanding all season long. They are very dedicated. If they don’t play well, we don’t win. “Traci is our most steady and consistent defensive player and our team leader in rebounds; Leigh is a three-year starter; and Angie is our leader in steals and is a very talented player.” By ALLEN TWITCHELL Next year's hopefuls Bloc1; out! The Lenapah Junior High team is riding a 32-game winning streak, including a perfect 14-0 mark this past season, and is an excellent training ground for the high school level. “We’ve got the program going where we can replace people and be strong every year,” said Tom Stewart, who coaches both the junior high and high school squads. “Hopefully, we can be strong for years to come.” By ALLEN TWITCHELL Staff writer 62 JR.
