They elected officers: Clyde Price, Presidentg Norma Jeanne Boeke, Vice President, Barbara Phillips, Secretary, Helaine Klaas, Treasurer, and Daryl Sherman, Student Council Representative. Miss Helene Dunn and Mr. Guy Bogart were their advisers. They won third prize with their Fall Festival float. The sophomores ilriitiated them, then they sponsored their Sophomore return party. A picnic at Apple River Canyon ended t e year. As sophomores they chose: James Kraus, Presidentg Kay Holmes, Treasurer, Jolm Holman, Vice President- Connie Harbach, secretaryg Norma Jeanne Boeke, Student Council Representative, Linda Starr and Clyde Price as Sports Council representatives Miss Frances Hoffman and Mr Vernon Macomber were advisers The class float won third place and the freshmen were initiated In the magazine selling cam palgn they outdid all the other classes At an all school party they introduced the Twirp Dance to Lena They presented a successful one act play Campaign for Two They closed the year with a class picnic again at Apple River Canyon Thirty eight of the class returned as Juniors Officers were James Kraus President Clyde Price Vice President Mary Lou Otte Secretary Robert Holmes Treasurer Robert Liphart Student Council Representative Linda Starr and Richard Kleckler Sports Council representatives Their advisers were Miss Mabel Schoch and Mr Vernon Macomber Their Fall float Safeguard Our Children won first prize They sold twice as many magazines as any other class in the sales campaign They sponsored a money raising Paul Bunyan Day They presented a three act comedy THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER They sponsored an all school party in March and later honored the seniors with a prom Three Coins in the Fountain Thirty four started as seniors electing Bruce Overson President Kay Holmes Vice President Norma Kurth Secretary Larry Stearns Treasurer Robert Liphart Student Colmcil Representative Norma Jeanne Boeke and Duane Schure as Sports Council representatives Daryl Sherman was elected Annalis editor with Donald Maaske and Mary Lou Otte as assisitant editors and Robert Liphart as business manager Class advisers were Miss Betty Kundert and Mr Edgar Trout Youth Goes Forward was their float theme In the magazine campaign they were less than eight dollars short of the Juniors Two bake sales two candy selling campaigns a Paul Bunya.n Work Day and a play were sponsored to raise money for the class The three act play ONE FOOT IN HEAVEN was very successful On Skip Day they v1s1ted Detroit and spent nearly two days there Late inthe spr1ngAnnal1ses were distributed Then came baccalaureate services and finally commencement successfully ending their high school careers I' SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS ' Bruce Overson President Kay Holmes Vice President Norma Jeanne Boeke Sports Council Representative Norma Kurth Secretary Duane Schure Sports Council Representative Robert Liphart Student Counc1lRepre sentative Larry Stearns Trea surcr was absent 1 . , . I Our theme for the ear was As Leaders Grow, Ten Candles Glow. We held meetings, -sponsored Daddy Date night, a mother-daughter tea and style show, and a civil defense program, and participated in the national FHA week.
