CoachDufour knew she had the personnel to be contenders in the valley, and she was right. The Varsity gals cap- tured theleague and advanced to the third round of the valley playoffs, before being defeated. This proves that our women ath- letes are the best in the West Yosemite League. The fighting Thgers had to beat the long tune powerhouse, Reedley, before notching the league crown. The Varsity girls were paced by All- League members Sandy iHam- merl Piearcy, Leisha Teague, and Sherri Hathaway. The J.V.'s also placed first in league behind M.V.P. Lory Hamilton. The Frosh-Soph ended up in second place, and they were led by their most valuable player Diana Billingsley. 20 VOLLEYBALL Jerilyn Miguel makes a diving save, as Kathy Handcock and Kathy Bengston offer help

G mnasts Do It Again-Champs' VARSITY. Melanie Jennings, Donna Badasci, Karen Schwarzenbach, Susan Adams, Donna Badasci points to Perfectlon Leslie Schwarzenbach. i f 'iffggc , a 4 .- 1-1 - T T Q lf T l , A5 X t It's becoming a tradition at L.H. S., that the Varsity gymnasts won't settle for anything less than first place at the league finals. Coach Lois Hubanks is proud of their dominance in the past few years and hopes to continue it in the future. It shouldn't be too difficult, as all five of the varsity members return next year. The Tigers were led by the outstand- ing consistency of Junior Donna Badasci, who was voted as the team's M.V.P. and highest scorer. She was followed closely by the team's Captain Melanie Jennings. These two gymnasts finished one-two in the league finals. The J.V.'s saw daylight for a first, but were edged out by a tough Redwood squad. Jeanette Irigaray, M.V.P., led the Kittens all season long. These women are great examples of why female sports are alive and advancing. 22 GYMNASTICS ff! all f :, ... 8 1 n yr. Sue Adams steadies herself for her next move on the beam
