J. F. Graham Growth This edition recognizes growth and progress. Thirty-four years ago the Lemoore High School in modesty was started with one teacher who taught six subjects to less than thirty pupils housed in a small rented room. Today the school employs twenty teachers, has an enrollment of three hundred seventy pupils and offers instruction in sixty different subjects. The building and equipment which cost over one-third of a million dollars are located an a twenty-four acre site. Seven busses transport pupils to and from school. This year sixty-four pupils will graduate, one more in number than the total number which graduated during the first thirteen years of the school ' s operation. Tiuly this physical growth is significant. Yet, even as the soul or spirit and not the physical is the real man so of more importance than the buildings and wealth of the Lemoore High School are the traditions, the loyalties, the visions, and the aspirations of its pupils and patrons which gave origin to these buildings. Each succeeding class as it came in turn has added its spirit and c-ini- viclioMs to make that intangible yet telling force known as the institution. Class of lit:55! Congratulations upon the unique contribution which you have made. To me it has been most interesting to study that contribution in the making. 1 would call it cosmopolitan. As you go out from your alma mater, may you live the theme of this book and ever realize that as the soul expands so grows man ' s happiness and his worth to his fellowmen. [8]
