GO TEAM! LET'S GO TEAM. ATHLETICS AT LEMON T The Athletic teams at Lemont High have been highly successful the past year. The football team won the Fox Valley Conference Championship for two consecutive years. The fine spirit displayed by the students and teachers spurred the boys on for additional Ixmrels. Again a member of the team received the Most Valuable Player Award, Bob Hunter, captain, winning the honor this year, while Ray Mankowski was the title winner for 1940. The winning spirit carried on from football into the basketball and baseball seasons. Stony hopes that Lemont I-Ii's spirit will see the teams on their winning way in years to come. We V24 ?!f E N4 Y al f6 ' .f:s,q.f i W fe THREE OUTS ---- GOLF Fore! Thus another golf season began at Lemont Hi and the boys could be seen practicing around school. Leading this year's team was James Brown. The boys worked up to the closing match at the Annual State Tournament held at Crystal Lawns Golf Club, Joliet, Illinois. Stony, per usual, sent love and best wishes. PEPSQUAD The Pep Squad at Lemont Hi, composed of four members of each class, has done much to bring out the spiirt among the students. They took charge of the pep meetings and also the distribution of tickets for all athletic events. Says Stony, The teams, as well as the entire student body, owe the Pep Squad a vote of thanks for their very fine work. BASEBALL Lemont High's baseball team led by Captain Philip Schuda, re- placing Captain Ben Schmidtke who enlisted in the Marines, opened its season April 24 against Morgan Park Military Academy. Due to the loss of six regulars, the strength of the team was unpredictable, although Coach Waesco believed that he would have a winning team before the season came to an end: or so he hinted to Stony. 29
