STONY SAYS HE MISSES POP. MR. JOHN A. OTT John A, Ott, otherwise known by all students as UPop, is no longer seen around school, .Because of ill hcnlth, Pop, who has been janitor for the past thirteen years, was forced to resign in December, 1941. When Pop was offered the position ns janitor, he was doubtful ns to whether or not he could get along with the student body, but his congenial manner and winning personality has made him n favorite with everyone all these years. Pop undertook his duties with a will to work and enjoyed the smaller tasks brought to him by the students. The student body nicknamed Mr. Ott, Pop, zi name which shows he was more than just ax janitor. In his many years of service, he cmnc to know ouch of the students personally and treated them all as his kids. Pop, we know, will be greatly missed by each and everyone of us who have come to know him, not as a janitor, but as a true friend. 23

Lemont went down to defeat before a heavier and more experienced aggregation. Stony says Lemont needs fn little more practice. 13-0 Lemont played Plano in the first conference game of the season. It was al hard fought first half, but in the second half, Lemont's weight advantage began to take effect and they crime through on top. Stony says the boys improved since the last time he sow them. 0-13 Lemont traveled to Geneva, only to return home on the short end of a 13 to 0 score. The entire game was played under very adverse playing conditions. Stony wasn't disappointed in the game, but he was disappointed in the weather. 13-0 Lemont won their second conference game of the season at Plainfield, scoring twice in the first half and coasting to an easy victory. Stony thinks that there is a possibility of Lemont Hi retaining the Conference Championship. 33-6 Lemont defeated Sandwich in a very decisive manner, thereby clinching their second consecutive Conference Championship. A large turnout 'of Lemont fans cheered the team on to victory. Stony went home with a smile on his face. 0-13 Lemont concluded its season by losing to its arch enemy, Lockport. It was a gruelling game for three quarters. In the fourth quarter, Lemont's lack of sub- stitutes proved to be their downfall. Stony was proud of the boys even in defeat. 25
