FOURTH ROUND! ..... lf' si' SENIOR CLASS OF 42 s , s X ss Q A class set aside from all others. These are the feelings of each and every- one of us, who have been classmates for the past four years, and we've three sub- k ' 35 stantial reasons to back these words. First, because we are the largest class to ks- graduate from L. T. H. S., second, because we've published the first yearbook land ii IF f- A Of: Lil- . s T ,, ,, . EN - . . . ,. Us - we hope the grounds we laid will make it a il'Bdltl0IlJ, and last, but not least, we ' I shall graduate with a new principal. Sharing our honors will be our sponsors, Mia Roebuck and Mr. Gerharz who've so splendidly guided us these last four years, and we wish to thank them sincerely, not forgetting our class leaders and all members of the class for their fine co- operation and spirit. It's been a pleasure, and now we're on our own. STONY REVIEWS FOUR YEARS Let us halt Father Time for a moment to look back over a short period of four years to the time when, as bewildered freshmen, tightly clutching our grade school diplomas, we entered that now familiar building known as the LEMONT TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL. Back in 1938 how impossible it seemed that we, who were then but tiny, frightened freshies, would ever attain the honorable and enviable position of high school graduates. We were greeted by kind teachers who assigned us to various rooms: thus, we were started on our journey up the Hill of Knowledge. One of the chief charms of the Lemont Township High School was that feeling of personal acquaintance, for all the upper classmen seemed only advanced freshmen themselves, giving us all their sympathy and advice. About a month after the school term opened we started to have our class meetings, electing the following officers to lead us in our first year: President, Russell Sandbergg Vice President, Arthur Tinley: Secre- tary, Doris Holtorfg Treasurer, Dawn Schultz. Our first party was a Hard Time Party-we were known for our odd parties. By winning the South- western Freshman Conference Championship, the boys who played basketball gave the class a great honor as freshmen. After the first year, with initiations over, we settled down into a more serious mood as we had profited by the examples shown by a very few who would rather play than work. But, of course, we had our play time as well as our working time. Our gym was the livelicst place in the school. Dur- ing regular periods, noon hours, and after school, shouts of glee from that direction echoed through the halls. If enthusiasm is contagious, the place for a person who needed pep was in our gym. With Russell Sandberg as president, Arthur Tinley as vice president, Naomi Johnson as treas- urer and Earl Cobb as secretary, the class was guided to a successful Leap Year party with plenty of excitement and never a dull moment. Time flies and before we knew it we were juniors and ready to show the seniors a good time. We did so by sponsoring the Pan-American Prom. Many hours and even days and weeks were spent in arranging for the prom, hoping to make it a grand success. It was given on Thursday evening, May 29, in night that is well rememberedi at Glenn Eagles Country Club. Our officers who directed us through this year were Naomi Johnson, presi- dent: Gilbert Sigman, vice presidentg Norma Wol- ter, secretary, and Emanuel Labicki, treasurer. In our fourth year we were no longer crude beginners, but proud seniors. There was a certain paoer drive in which our senior girls came out tops : the boys giving the unstable excuse that the girls too greatly out-numbered them. Officers of the year: President, Russell Sandberg: Treasurer, Naomi Johnsong' Secretary, Robert Hunter: under their leadership the Hallowe'en party was given. When the time came for measuring fingers for rings and measuring for caps and gowns, we really felt bigg so big that we hoped when we got them they would fit us. No one will or can forget those days spent taking the pictures. Despite all these activities, our school work has always come first. Good times have gone, and good times are yet to come, for we are eager to know what the future holds in store for us. All the skill we have acquired and expect to take with us into the world we owe to the untiring efforts and patience of our dear teachers in the past four vears. We gratefully thank them for what they have done for us.
