Cheer Leaders Left to right: Betty Arnold, Patricia Starlipcr, Janice Rosenberry, Helen Barnes, Elaine Jones, Peggy Lamaster. - The purpose ot thc Cheer Leaders is to foster hetter athletic spirit and to keep sports: on 1: high plain in Lemasters High School. The organization is comprised of six girls: one senior, foul' juniors and one sophomore. Elaine jones was elected head cheer leader of the squad which has hcen active during the entire school season. Athletic Council An Athletic Council, consisting of students. was formed this year for the first time at Lemasters. The purpose of the Council is to give the students representation in determining athletic problems and policies. The representatives are chosen hy the coaches and include two seniors. two juniors, two sophomores, and one freshman. The hoys and girls meet separate-lv hut are organized for the same purposes. ' The duty of the council is to assist the coaches on prohlcms which might arise and to advise them on any issue which they may he called upon to settle. The councils act in an advisory capacity in many matters. the couches making the final decisions. The council and the coaches have set up a new svsteni for awarding athletic letters and have made training rules for the various sports.
