Girls' Basketball Basketball at Lemasters started in 102-l-1025 under the direction of the Principal Nlr. Thornton. Since then, there has heen a Girls' Athletic Association at Lemasters, under the direction of Mrs. Edna McElhaney. This year there were IS girls in the association. .-X total of 0 gaines were played during this past season. .lanuary 1-L. H. S. ,-Xhunnae 16-Leniasters 2-l To the tune ot the l.. H. S. pupils' cheers. the Xliildcats trounced the former graduates. blaniiary S-Scotland 19-Le-masters 31 The Leinasters girls skipped from the Hoor from an easy victory. January 15-Vliashington Township 17-L. H. S. 1-l Breaking' their winning streak, the Wiildcats lost to the VVasliinf.fto11 Township sextet hy a 17-1-l score. january 27-Greencastle 26-Leinasters 21 .X Five-point loss was suffered hy L. H. S. in the meeting with G. H. S. january 29-Xliashiugtou Township 30-Lemasters 29 Following' closely at the heels of XYashingtou Township, the XYildcats hnally lost hy one point. Fehruary 3-Greencastle 33-Letuasters 26 Through a tough. hard-played game, the L. H. S. sextet lost to the G. H. S, girls. Fchruary 5-Scotland .27-Lcinasters 30 Taking' the lead early in the ganie the Xllildcats surrendered it temporarily to the Scotland sextet hut quickly 1'egained speed to end with a victory. February ll-Mercersburg' llfl-Leniastcrs 20 To close competition and cheering from both sides the two teams decided to quit at a 20-20 tie. v

Soccer September 23 Hustontown 0-Lemasters 5 The first game of the 1947 soccer season was an easy victory. September 26 Hustontown 0-Lemasters 9 Lemasters' team played the second game at home and showed the school fine teamwork. September 30 Mercersburg 3-Lemasters 2 A very line performance was displayed by the Mercersburg squad on their home ground when they defeated Lemasters by one goal. October 3 Scotland O-Lemasters 7 The Lemasters' squad took an early lead and kept it throughout the entire game. Their first year in the league, the Scotland squad played a line game. October 7 Greencastle O-Lemasters 1 Greencastle traveled to Lemasters to be defeated. Brake, a sophomore, was the boy who saved the day when he drove through the winning goal. October 1U VVashington Township 0-Lemasters 7 Downing the Wiashington Township team on their own ground was easy for the red and black team. October 14 St. Thomas 1-Lemasters 3 The Lemasters' squad took another step toward the goal of Franklin County Championship. Red Frye, a senior, scored the three winning goals. October 17 Mercersburg 0-Lemasters 1 Lemasters' aggregation displayed championship form and upset the hopes of the favored team in one of the best league games of the year. October 21 Mercersburg Academy 3-Lemasters 4 In what proved to be the most exciting game of the season the Lemasters team took a very close game from the Academy. Dick Hopkins, a senior, scored all four goals for L. H. S. October 24 Scotland 0-Lemasters S Eight goals chalked up by the Lemasters team brought an easy victory over Scotland, thus keeping Lemasters in the lead of the Franklin County League. October ZS Greencastle 0-Lemasters 2 The Lemasters squad traveled to Greencastle to play in one of the worst games of the season. Despite the rain and a muddy tield Lemasters took another victory on the way to championship. November 7 St. Thomas 2-Lemasters 4 Lemasters downed the St. Thomas lads at St. Thomas. The first half saw the teams evenly matched by a tie of 2-2, but in the second half Lemasters went ahead with two more goals while holding the opponents scoreless. November 10 Vlfashington Township O-Lemasters 3 Ending the league games Lemasters traveled to XN'ashington Township to hand them a defeat of 3-0. November 12 Dover 2-Lemasters 1 The biggest upset of the year for Lemasters occurred when Dover won the York County Championship in the first round of the District 3 play-off games. Guy Hollens- head, a junior, scored the only goal for Lemasters.
