TAFF . atime for news . Adviser Mr. Goldstein In producing a newspaper stu- dents are not just confined to the rigors of story writing. They must deal with people outside Leland in interviews, advertising and publishing. I hope this year, through the newspaper, every person in- volved has reached beyond him- self and has enlarged his scope. Every now and then I get im- posed upon in such a manner that I am completely unable to locate a suitable excuse for escape. Such a problem has been the Leland Lip, which is, believe it or not, a legitimate publication. Initiated as a fun change-of-pace, it gradually became a genuine passion, eating up many a sleepless night as I would attempt to dream up an- other silly article, and pass it off as being literary. All kidding aside, the Lip has served many inportant purposes at Leland this year. While the Lip brought the student body a little closer, and increased the interest in school-based affairs, it has also proven to be extremely suitable for lining garbage cans and wrap- ping dead fish. Although the entire staff has complained often and loud of the burden of creating a newspaper every day, I would say that it has been a uniquely rewarding experience. the timel yearbook staff Editor-in-chief Bob Robertson Adviser Mr. Goldstein Asst. Ed. Sam Mash This years theme for the Leland Legend is time, and assessing the class, the book, and the school year ... has been quite a time. The class has impressed me this year as an experience, unique, original and a phenomenon that could only happen in the time and the place it did. lt's permissive organization and the 'spirit' of the class made for an exciting year with all kinds of times, times of work, play, friendship lnot necessarily in that order! and times when we 'ain't got time', but overall it is a time to remember. The spectrum of the yearbook class, the school activities, the students and teachers alike, all com- pound to make this time at Leland, in it's uniqueness a passing spree of learning, sharing and understanding. I am left with the tenseness of an ac- tion filled football game, the uplifting of a dance, and the fatigue of over coming a trial. l'm moved by the pass- ing oftime, wishing all could enjoy time as I did this year. aiyki Yearbook Class wigs , .gg and E1
