Key to the Future Although Leland and Gray Seminary has operated as a private high school since its founding in l83h Qwith exception of a short period in the l92O'sJ, its primary responsibility has been constantly to serve the needs of the young people of the surrounding West River Valley area and in that it has been similar in purpose to a centralized public high school. The school is partially supported by incomes from endowments and gifts, but its support depends mainly upon tuitions from the towns. At present ten towns are represented in its enrollment and the future of Leland and Gray, its perpetuation as well as improvement of its offerings and facilities, may be assured through the continued cooperation and support of the towns sending students. Responsibility for the organization and supervision of Leland and Gray Seminary rests with the Board of Trustees consisting of twenty-eight members. 1957 - 1958 officers are: Dr. Carlos G. Otis, President Ernest O. Allen, Vice-President Mrs. Martha Kearley, Secretary Mrs. Leonore Mclntosh, Treasurer Richard Kearley, Chairman of the Prudential Committee Gordon Phillips, Prudential Committee Laurence Lisle, Prudential Comm ttee The Board of Trustees meet regularly for winter and summer semi-annual meetings and for special meetings as necessary. The Prudential Committee holds its meetings monthly and at other times as needed. 6
