SdVNS UOIN1S a; SENIORS IN THE MAKING It all began in September of ’52. We were just green” F reshmen, and did the Seniors ever know it! .... On Monday of the second week of school we, the Freshies, wageda friendly battle. The girls wore one high-heel shoe and one low-heel shoe, an old ankle length dress, a necktie, half of their hair pinned up, and makeup on one side of their faces. The boys wore jewelry and more jewelry, lots and lots of makeup, an apron wrong side out, hair ribbons, and trousers, rolled up to the knee. That night. Freshman Night, the Sophomores took all of their spite out on us. They fed us potato chips seasoned with red pepper, made us drink alum water, put soy-beans down our neck, and stuck our hands in “fishworms which later proved to be only cooked spaghetti. That year we chose Mr. Streight to guide us through the next four years. What a year our first year was! Beginning our sophomore year we welcomed Betty Kennedy into our menagerie .... Under the direction of Dallas Butler, the class president, we took our turn initiating the Freshmen .... those poor children” really suffered. Freshman Night was the most memorable thing all that year, but we did all the other things any ‘innocent’ Sophomore would do. Did you say we had only two more years to go? Little did we know what we were asking. Hadn’t we heard of the Junior Play, the Junior Supper, tournament program selling, the Junior-Senior Prom, besides attendance at class now and then? We began by tackling one thing at a time—quite the logical thing to do, we thought .... The Junior Play, Where There’s a Will There’s a Way,” was led to a huge success by Mr. Stites, our play director. We served ham or steak at our supper, and it was a big success. The program selling was a riot. We finally wound up that year with the Prom which was just “super.” September .... school .... Seniors ! The first thing we did was to elect the officers that would help Mr. Streight to lead us to a great and glorious finish. We chose Grace Nemire, President; Paul Stuber and Pat Kelley, Co-Vice-Presidents; Bonnie Dickey, Treasurer; and Janice Tooman, Secretary. To begin with we put the Freshmen through their paces on Freshman Day. Then we set up the committees that would sell at the football and basketball games. We had a car wash, a turkey supper, and ever so many other things among which were the prom the Juniors put on for us, and the Senior trip on which everyone had barrels of fun. Our Baccalaureate was held on the Sunday before we left on the trip, and it set each of us to thinking about the future; then came GRADUATION. We’re really out of school, and none of us can believe it. We all wish we were going back again next year. Since that is not true, we’ll bid farewell to L. H. S., our teachers, and our advisor, Mr. Streight. who led us to many successes. SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY Oh! This bookkeeping is hard, and I’m getting so sleepy. I guess I’ll quit for a while and catch up on my sleep. I just hope Mr. Hartman doesn't catch on. Does that calendar read May 1966 ? Yes, Robert Worthington and Anita Dillon are married and are running the world’s most famous clothing store. Janette Knepper, Janice Tooman and Betty Kennedy are their most famous models. “The shapely trio they’re called. Mary Brooks is busily engaged in teaching the little “angels in her kindergarten class to be big “angels.” George Kindle grew up and is now employed by Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus as the world’s tallest and strongest man. Dale Chamberlin and Nancy Lloyd are married and they are busy furnishing Mary Brooks with “material” for her kindergarten. Dallas Butler is now President of the United States, Evan David is Vice-President and Bonnie Dickey is Treasurer. Norma Fenbert, Mary Ann Warnecke, and Lou Ann Ellerbrock are the three top wheels in the United States’ newly founded Friendship Circle. If you ever need a tooth treated, go to James Myers, the dentist who treated Dallas's toothache. If it didn’t hurt the President very much, it surely can’t hurt us common people at all. Robert Berger owns and operates the largest trucking line ever, with Judy Corron as his private secretary. The Supreme Court is now presided over by Patricia Kelley, the greatest Supreme Court Judge since John Marshall. There are two great cartoonists in the U.S. now, Jerry Bean and Beverly Shoemaker. No one keeps a sad face very long with a book of their cartoons around. John Schwab is now the Sports Editor for the U. S. Weekly and since reading his write-ups everyone is now interested in sports of all kinds. You wouldn't recognize Germany since Fred Tobien has gone back. He is the leader of Germany now and there have been some changes made.’’ Carol Lamphier, Phyllis Keeran, and Luane Rader are all employed by the Ohio Power as private secretaries. Sandra Keeran is drum majorette for the Ohio State Band, and, therefore is leader of one of the U.S.’s greatest football parade bands. David Peoples is the man of many ghosts. He owns the largest funeral home in New York and Gary Shafer is his assistant embalmer. Howard Medley has changed, muchtoeveryone’s surprise, and is now a professor of astrology with Nancy Budd as his assistant. Othmer Shroeder, Lowell Hawkins, and Robert Hammond have founded a club for “not-so-very-talkative-men. They have been all over the world seeking members, but so far they have found only ten that measure up to the standards. Evelyn Niese and Martha Niese, much to everyone’s surprise, are at the head of the U.S. educational system encouraging all of the little angels” of the U.S. to attend schooL (They had better attend or else!! I!) Rose Ann Weis, having decided to make her beauty an example for all of the young women of the world, opened a beauty salon which is now known all over the world. Rebecca Benton and Grace Nemire have taken pity on all high school yearbook editors and their literary editors and have opened an instructional schooL These people can attend for two weeks a year for the small sum of $5,000 a week. (That’s pity?) John Osborn and Paul Stuber are now two of the world’s greatest mathematicians. No wonder my children won’t take geometry! They’ve invented some new theorems. Kenny Kuhlman is the idol of all little boys; he is practically a one man basketball team. That’s what that big round thing atop his shoulders is ! A basketball. Tony Honesto is a famous senator from the state of Texas, known to filibuster for a total of 100 hours at a time. No wonder the U.S. is such a windy place! Richard Niese is now at the helm of the national organization of the Future Farmers of America. I wonder-----------Do you suppose all that I dreamed will actually happen? It would seem funny if it did; and yet it just might. Only time can tell.
