AS A SPECIAL ATTRACTION WE HAVE THE LATEST REPORTS ON THE MEMBERS OF THE CLASS OF “SS’ FROM LEIPSIC HIGH SCHOOL You know how Eugene Meyers used to be so interested in electricity? Now he’s owner of the biggest gas company in the world. Marie Niese, Mary Siebeneck, and Anna Mae Ellerbrock are also in business. They run the Health Bar. You have to watch them though; they might spike your milk—with chocolate, that is. Martha Slaybaugh and Nancy Brooks put a new twist in the art of designing and styling hair. Their customers are men only. Phyllis Butler and Joanne Peterson are running a truck stop. They can’t cook, but they are trying. Keith Bulter owns the Butler Brother’s Trucking Firm, and Mary Baer is a private secretary there. Joyce (Jake) O’Neal, Bill (Deacon) Shartzer, and Dennis(Hank) Henry didn’t change too much. They are still singing hillbilly songs-their own version of course. Deiter Platte went back to Germany and is teaching the German girls some American customs. Jim Reynolds owns his own chain of clothing stores all over the world. Jean Haughn went out West and has a ranch of her own. Karlyn Place and Mary Ann Bratton are nurses at an army hospital nearby. SPORTS: Larry Johnson just won the prize for being the best all-round professional athlete in the United States. CELEBRITY: Marilyn Bobenmyer is now owner of the Hilldare Stables. Her racehorses are great winners. Carole Geren is opening her new musical hit on Broadway next week. Mary Claybaugh just won the Nobel Prize with her latest book. Harold E. Zeller, the President of the United States, awarded her the prize. SOCIETY: I see by the society page that Norma Wagler and Donna Kagy are having a big party for the matrons of the upper class. It seems they’re pretty important figures. Marvin Williams has his name band now. Fred Kretzinger is his solo cornet player, and Bill Clausen signed a contract to sing for the next year. FLASH: Earnest Eicher and Marvin Jones have just tested the new rocket ship for the Universal Rocket Company. Manford Boggs, the president and designer of this ship, says this will revolutionize all air travel. Eugenia Stout has just discovered a new tonic for sleeping. Professor Stout has made many discoveries in the past year. EMBASSY NEWS: Senator Harold Krienbrink has introduced a very important peace bill to Congress. At a press conference all he would say was that it was top secret. Ronnie Shafer is just back from South Africa. He is the ambassador from the United States. FARM NEWS: Norman Goedde, an Ohio farmer, has just introduced a new hybrid corn seed. This corn will help the price for the farmers. I’M SURE THAT ALL THE PEOPLE FROM LEIPSIC FEEL PROUD THAT AT ONE TIME THESE FAMOUS PEOPLE ONCE ATTENDED THEIR HIGH SCHOOL or YESTERDAY in memoRiam This year our school experienced a great loss--the death of a member of our faculty. Mrs. Hall was well known to students as a teacher of home economics and girls' physical education. The students feel deeply the loss of a sincere, friendly, and understanding personality. 25th AnnivepsARy CLASS of 1930 FIRST ROW: Emerson Meyers, Forest Dewar. We chose Mrs. Foley as our advisor to guide us through the next four years. We also chose the following officers: President, Bill Clausen; Vice-President, Harold Zeller; Secretary, Eugenia Stout; Treasurer, Jim Reynolds; and Reporter, Marvin Williams. On September 25, we were given a reception by the Sophomores. The year went fast, and soon we were giving the reception for the oncoming Freshmen. In our Sophomore year we elected Harold Zeller, Phyllis Butler, Gordia Bennett, Martha Slaybaugh, and Joyce O’Neal as President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Reporter, respectively. In the early spring of that year we ordered our class rings and had a bake sale. Right from the beginning of our Junior year, we started making money for our Senior trip. We chose for our officers: Harold Zeller, President; Phyllis Butler, Vice-President; Nancy Brooks, Secretary; Martha Slaybaugh, Treasurer; Mary Baer, Reporter. On the 19th and 20th of November we gave the play, “Stranger In The Night.” We sold magazine subscriptions and had a bake sale. During the tournament we sold programs and had a check room. In the spring we had a successful supper. Before we knew what was happening, we were Seniors in a new school building which we had looked forward to for a long time. We elected the following as officers to help us through our last year: Co-Presidents, Joanne Peterson and Harold Zeller; Secretary, Nancy Brooks; Co-Treasurers, Eugenia Stout and Marvin Jones; and Reporter, Mary Claybaugh. We were in charge of the concessions at the football games. Our turkey and ham supper was a success, and we did very well selling Christmas and all-occasion cards. We had several parties, a class play, and a trip in the spring. Looking back over the last four years, we have come to appreciate the guidance of our teachers, and when it came time to graduate, we were grateful to all those who made graduation possible for us.
