Q . 1 1 J I ' 2 On my way at last! I had just been kicked out of college for the thirteenth time and as a reward, Dad had given me a rocket trip around the world. It had been twenty years since I had graduated from dear old L.H.S. and I was really surprised to find LIONEL HAWKINS piloting the rocket. I talked with him awhile and he said he had won the Congressional Medal of Honor for bravery in the war. He also told me JUNIOR REED was in New York City, where he coached football at the Seaside Re- formatory. I found a seat and sitting next to me was JANET DONNELL. She said she was an author and had written two books entitled, How To Be On Time and How To Make Snap Decisions . Our rocket took off and dur- ing the flight she told me that BARBARA SMITH and PAUL REYNOLDS, better known as Smoky and Two Gun , were serving life prison sentences for robbing twenty-six banks. By this time we had reached London. We had a ten hour wait so I decided to go sightseeing. I went to Buckingham Palace and there I saw DON SETTLEMIRE. He had married Princess Margaret and they were living at the palace with Elizabeth and Philip. He said WALTER MCCOY had taken Joe Stalin's place in Russia and had converted the country to a democracy. He also said BERNARD ALT was in prison. It seemed he had been discovered to be a quack scientist. I then had to return to the rocket and we next landed in Paris. I stepped off the rocket while it took on supplies and I saw MARY LOU SELHORST getting off another rocket. She said she had come to Paris to open a men's modeling school. She also told me CAROLYN DICK was a dancer and was in the Belgium Congo teaching the natives the El Fan Tango. I reboarded the plane and I met ONEDA WINOVER, she was on her way to Italy for a rest. It seemed she had been coaching a women's basketball team, but it had -been broken up because three of her star players, FRANCES WHITE, DOROTHY SHAFFER, and ANNE FENBERT had been put in jail for accepting bribes. Then we landed in Rome. We had another five hour wait and I went sightseeing again. I was walking down the street when I saw a sign advertising an American wrestling match between Tumbling TOMMY WAG- LER and Maul'em MARTIN RANESH. I went in, but I had to return to my rocket before I could talk to them. Our next stop was Tokyo. There I saw MARJORIE MORATT and LA DONNA BERGER, they were night club entertainers. La Donna played the piano and Marjorie sang. Because I had to return to my rocket I didn't get to talk to them either. We next landed in Hawaii, where LOWELL BASS and DICK SCHWEITZER were manufactur- ing grass skirts and DOROTHA CRAWFIS and DELORES WILLIAMS modeled them. I was soon on my way again and we next landed in Los Angeles. I talked with GLENN CAMP- BELL and he said he had graduated from U.S.C. fThe University of Southern Comfortl with a Magna Cum Loaded degree. He also told me another classmate had become the President of the United States. LOWELL TOOMAN had finally talked his way into the White House. SARA JO RUF F was also in Washington. She operated a plant which manufactured No Parking Signs . I then flew on to New York City. I met HARRY STOUT and he said he was living in the Bowery and had just been elected King of the Hobos. I had seen all my old classmates and I was very tired from my trip, but I was very, very glad to have found all my classmates leading such successful lives. Vw A. Mr. Hartman was our class adviser, and with Lionel Hawkins as President, Reynolds McDougle as Vice- President, Lowell Bass as Treasurer, and janet Donnell as Secretary, we sailed through the year with flying colors. We entered our Sophomore year with heads held high and elected Paul Reynolds as Pres- ident, Lowell Bass as Vice-President, Sara jo Ruff as Treasurer, and Janet Donnell as Secre- tary. We gave a very successful reception for the Freshmen, and came through the year with- out too great a struggle. Bound and determined to make our Junior year bigger and better than the preceding years, we elected Paul Reynolds as President, Lowell Bass as Vice-President, Carolyn Dick as Treas- urer, and Janet Donnell as Secretary. Our goal was to begin earning money for our senior trip, and with Mr. Hartman's assistance we did this by sponsoring a bake sale, magazine drive, selling programs at tournament games, and producing our class play Clementine , Now we are on the last mile of our long jour- ney through school. We chose Paul Reynolds as President, Dick Schweitzer as Vice-President, Barbara Smith as Treasurer, and Dorothy Shaffer as Secretary to guide us through this busy year. We also selected Mrs. Hartley, to whom we owe much of the year's success, to be our class adviser. We had two goals this year: producing a successful school annual, the first in many years, and earning money for our senior trip to New York and Washington. We did this by sponsoring a paper drive, bake sale, concessions, and producing a class play. And now with smiles and tears we are about to say good-bye to L.H.S. but we hold our heads high, because we are proud to say We were the Seniors of 1952 . I7 7770Jt ' IVQX l l .
