Senior llall of Fame HIRONOBU HINO Alive in every part of his being and do- ing all that is in his power to improve our student body, Hironobu Hino, President of the Student Body, stands out in the Class of 1940. Full of witty sayings, usually said in calmness, he enlivens the otherwise would- be monotonous business meetings. He has fullfilled all obligations of a most capable president. SARAH KIM Gay, charming, sincere, and brilliant, this she has been. This young lady has earned a warm spot in all the hearts of the class of 1940. Her eagerness to serve and share, has helped us to trample our obstructions and obstacles which have time and time again been in our way during the days at dear old Leilehua. Editing the Feature Sec- tion of the year book, Vice President of the Student Council, member of the Na- tional Honor Society and holding numer- ous other offices, a more efficient worker there never will be found. YOSHIO ICHIKAWA If there ever is such a being as a Per- fect Gentlemanu he is the fellow named Yoshio. He is known throughout the campus as a man of looks, wit, and of outstanding athletic ability. Taking part in all phases of school activities, such as being the Treasurer of the junior Class, Treasurer of the Student Council, member of the National Honor Society, outstanding pole vaulter and baseball player, Yoshi has surely proven himself to be a real man. MERLE YAMADA As the old saying goes The words of the quiet one is usually heard, Merle will stand out in the class of ,4O as our prize package of someone quiet, yet conspicuous- ly standing out as one of our best students. As we go out in the world, she will always come back to our memories through our Senior Class rings. HOWARD HIRONO A gentleman thru and thru is Howard. He is quiet, intelligent and a wizard in calculations. His ability as a business man- ager has kept us ahead in every way con- cerning the annual. He deserves all the confidence and high esteem we hold for him. GLADYS AU Mr. Tony'i to fellow friends. With a tilt of her head she starts off VVe have exactly so many S ...,,,,,,,,,,,.. in the treasury, Don't you know? She's the Senior Girl Re- serve Treasurer. All in all, Gladys is a very dependable, studious and serious young woman. She has the Girl Reserve symbol stamped in her soul. We sometimes wonder how the office could keep on running if it weren't for Gladys' efficient and helpful assistance to our Secretary, Miss Bull. I DICK GOODRICH . Through his participation in many fields of our school activities, Dick has proved himself efficient, industrious, and depend- able. As chairman of the Athletic Commis- sion he has done wonders for our athletic problem. - e . Tall, dark, and handsome, he is a wizard in the field of Science and Mathematics. ROY LEE Known to all students of Leilehua fOr his remarkable ability as traffic officer is Roy Lee. Vlfithout his able leadership and technique we undoubtedly would not have won the high honor for traffic efficiency presented by the Honolulu Police Depart- ment. The prize was donated by Sidney Toler. A gentleman in every respect, he will be long remembered for his sincerity. YUKIO KOMORI Yukio has been the Gibraltar of our Senior Class. His leadership, reliability, patience, and ever-willingness has been the main factor for our success. His ability as a ball player combined with a magnetic personality will remain in our minds for- ever. He deserves our gratitude and thanks MARIAN CHUN . Known to all her friends as little Joe, Marian is undoubtedly one of the most popular figures in the class of 1940. Her charming personality will always place her among the top in whatever undertaking she may face in the future. Her scholastic standing also ranks with the top of the class and as Secretary of our Senior Class she has always worked very hard and efficiently. SALLIE WHITE lfVith all the qualities to make a good editor, she has guided us in publishing a year book that will stand out in our minds as the greatest achievement of our class of '40, Her sincerity, gameness, and devotion under heavy burden, repeatedly lighted the torch which was about to die down. jovial and full of vim, she will always re- main dear to our hearts. MITSUO TANJI Small men are dynamite, so they say, and as for Mitsuo he certainly is a step further than dynamite. As Secretary of our Student Body Government, he has proved beyond reasonable doubt that he is capable, efficient, industrious. Being small Cphysi- callyj doesn't hamper him at all for the biggest job is none too big for him. SURN H0 LEE One could describe Surn Ho as a man of strong character, for as the sheriff of our school, he has done great work in restoring order and respect for laws. His steady de- pendab-ility has won for him many friends, and we, are expecting a great deal from him in the years to come.
