The 1975 : - Advisor Mr. Norman LaPlante, Tri-Editors—Deb Edwards, Paul Gleason, and Colleen Grant. PATRICIA H. BUKOSKI, Clerk JOHN E. COMER Asst. Supt. MARILYN HIGHLAND, Clerk PAIGE ROWDEN Vice Prin. DEANT. TOEPFERPrin. ■ DONALD C. RUTTER Supt. 2 ft in It wasn ' t a hard decision to decide who would be the recipient of this year ' s yearbook. Without the help and constant involvement of this person, we would never have been able to overcome the problems we were faced with. What this teacher means to us cannot be expressed in words. We want this person to know how much we love and thank her for everything she has done for us. Mrs. Ave- dian--the Class of 75 thanks you. WjfMLjJ!! ' ? scflrr ' f ; I c f H h In Memory of Dorothea Power—Our Sunshine Girl I love the warm fingers of the sun to touch me in the morning, and the sparkling, chilling Mohawk waters to freshen and delight my spirit. I love the cool, green forest floor and the fragrance of wild flowers whose essence fills the air. I love to ponder gently melodies as Joni serenades my soul, and the Poet captivates my being as I share his secret answers. I love to see, to hear, to touch, to smell every wonder of creation; thank God for each solitary hour, each precious day, that I breathe, I love, I discover. 1 wonder why the day did come that stilled the spring bird ' s song; my vibrant life was deathly silenced, smothering all it ever touched. I wish I could say Please don ' t cry peace surrounds me here; someday you ' ll come to join me to touch God ' s loving hand. HI The Basketball team this year ended the season with an 8-13rec¬ ord. Injuries plus losing some nip and tuck games turned the tide toward a losing season. Major in¬ juries such as broken ankles to both Captain Kevin Reed and start¬ ing forward Jim Foy hurt the Wol¬ verine in the latter part of the year. The highlight of the year would have to be the thrilling victory over a strong Northbridge team mid-way through the season. With a host of veterans returning next year along with some good J.V. players the future should be a bright one at L.H.S. 1974-75 Varsity Basketball Season L-R: C. Smith, M. Jarmolowicz, F. Signed in Wittness of: the Sweathogs and The Sows Attest: Bill Murphy Sharon O ' Brien mA i ' ! ' ' IT •% The scene opens in lovely Hampton Beach. It is our day of wedlock—our nuptials have just begun. Upon the sandy shore of Hampton Beach we find Father Mulcahy, alias JOE MAYO, alias little Joey Slipper, alias little JoeyBromo, alias little Joey Money Clip, saying Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. A voice in the crowd (Could it be SANDY ROUX?) yells, No, no that ' s a mistake— you ' re reciting the funeral ceremony. And, of course, RUSSELL CROFT pops out with In their case it IS a funeral ceremony! Oh, Russell, retorted LINDA MENARD. The wedding ceremony was cut short on account of high tide. Hark! the sweet sound of our own PAUL CRUNCH WESTER is heard from the beach loud speaker. Good morning, this is your morning reporter. Today ' s weather is NICE. If any of you have a chance, stop over at the wedding reception. The menu today consists of hot dogs and french fries. Of course when we got there, the meal was kilbasi and cabbage soup. Before leaving for the reception, we saw something frolicking in the water. It was big and hairy—a bear. No, it was MEGAN COREY. My Hairiness, shouted Paul, just like old times. The reception began. The L.H.S. Class of ' 75 was invited. Everything has been carefully planned. Our caterer was the big mouth from Big Boy ' s COLLEEN GRANT, assisted by PAT BELANGER and DIANE SY- MONOWICZ on the cash registers. The orchestra began to play Day and Night You Are tiie One written by SUE and EDIE and sung by Neil Young—Excuse me—DONNA GORDON. Our band also consisted of ROSS DOHERTY, who loves to throw flowers at RICK TAYLOR and TOM TREPANIER, who told us of another job he had on the side-working in ladies ' underwear. Another classmate who had been working in somewhat the same area was JOHN CORAN, he was modeling Winnie the Pooh clothes at Sears. We walked around and mingled with the guests. The one person we didn ' t wee was BETSY ROGERS, but then, did we ever see her? Our talk with GLENN BERARD was, naturally, cen¬ sored. Suddenly there was a noise, Roommm—Roommm— Oh, no it can ' t be, but it is. The dreaded B-Bovs --ROY BENOIT, SCOTT BRAY, and BOB BUTCKIEWICUS, and the meanest, scariest, of them all—DANNY BENOIT. Oh, What ' ll we do! Help! Help! Does anyone want to buy some girl scout cookies? asked SANDY DORR. I ' d love to, I ' ll take one box please. Now where was I? You were screaming, Thank you. Help! Help! Help! The phone booth door flashed open. Faster tiian the foam from a keg, more powerful than a case, able to Class Prophecy drink a six in a single gulp. It ' s Schlitzman, MATT BRENNAN, to the rescue. He tied them up in their rooms but CHRIS KOMOSKI, who was looking for ice, fell over the rope and let them out. We ' re free! but the minute they saw Matteo they scooted off on their scooters. That ' ll show them. You don ' t mess with the best, cause the best don ' t mess, you don ' t fool with the cool cause the cool don ' t fool, you don ' t jive with our guy cause our guy don ' t jive. Right on! said a screaming, hysterical but calm LEE JAMES. By the way, the life expectancy of a dollar bill is a year and a half. Anyway, everything seems to be dying down. The reception is pretty much broken up except for the two in the corner—LINDA FULGENITT and WAYNE KING. What are those two doing over there? asked SANDY HASSET. Foxy CHERLY LEMIEUX replied, They ' re just making a fire. Alright, everyone out, cried CARL BOQUIST, our janitor is a drum. Wait a minute! howled EILEEN RESSELER. Before everyone leaves, you ' re all invited to my house tonight for a house wrecking party. RICH GARABEDIAN, BRAD GIGGEY AND MIKE GIGUERE said they ' d be happy to come. Happy! Did soneone say happy? What ' s another word for happy. . .mmmm gay! said MARY McCUE, who began passing out hats. Now let ' s get out of this place. Why don ' t we take a walk along the boardwalk? Hey, look at the crowd over at the bandstand, let ' s go check it out. No wonder, —No, STEVIE Wonder LaMARCHE and the 4 La ' s, CAROLE La FAYETTE, DEBBIE La MONDA, and DENISE and BRENDA La MARCHE. The crowd ' s wild —screaming, and yelling. MARY KAY DYKAS is throwing beer at Steve. I declare Mary Kay the winner, yells USA MATTEL Now let ' s go down to Tech. Through aU this, Flukey CINDY LUCKE is saying, oh, wow! Let ' s get out of here. Look over there. Hi RANDY KEMP, haven ' t seen you in ages? What are you doing? Oh, I ' m flying . . . a kite! See look up there. Hey, that isn ' t a kite, it ' s SUE PIKE! What ' s the difference, Kite, Pike? Bye Randy. Look down at the beach. Isn ' t that COLBY chasing a duck in the water? No, that ' s not a duck, it ' s JOYCE ROBILLARD. There ' s music coming from the other end of the beach —let ' s go see. Get down, get down, get down, get down. The voice sounds familiar—Why it ' s FRANNY MTT.T.F.TTF., DENNIS BELANGER gave us the scoop, it seems that TIM McCLUSKEY was feeding him to the sharks and every time they would jump up and snap at him, Fran would say get down, get down, get down, get down. Who wanted the ladder? asked KAREN BORIS. You ' ll never get to the top tnat way Karen, remarked RICH CONNORS. I ' m hungry. Why don ' t we go and get something to eat, I saw a McDonalds up the road. Maybe CELESTE LANG LOIS and STEVE MANDELLA will want to come? Hey you two, want to go to Mc¬ Donalds with us? No, MARY ANNE BOUVAR ' S not working today, she ' s down onClark Street. Why don ' t we go to Friendly ' s instead. You ' ll never guess what happened to us, on our way over there. We saw BOB SULLIVAN hanging around the comer. Suddenly, he came running up to Paul. Colonel, Colonel, I ' ve got a problem. Will you leave me alone Clinger, said Paul. But Colonel, Clinger cried, I think I ' m pregnant! Well, I ' m SPIARON O ' NEILL with two l ' s and I ' m SALLY LEGG with two feet, stated the two passersby. 106 Look at the line waiting for ice cream cones, with PAT McKEON Pushing them on saying, Keep the line moving. . Well, here we are. Yikes! What ' s that noise? Oh, Mary ' s here ! It was just MARY HALPIN laughing at JOY LaPLANTE, who asked JAY REIDY when Friendly ' s had put in that indoor bridge she had just walked under. That wasn ' t a bridge, replied Jay. That was KEVIN REED. There ' s a booth over there. Let ' s sit down. Celeste began telling us of her new house designed by KAY and LORRAINE BURTT. She got the materials to build it from Wood, Wood, and Wood, Inc., which is owned by SERENA, JOHN and DAVID. Their lumberjack was DAVID LUMB. MARSHA KINGDON, who overheard our conversation, asked Who is your interior decorator? Why ELLEN MAYO, of course. Oh, I thought she was a cake deco¬ rator? ’ No, that ' s MIKE DePATIE. ' Well, anyway, as I was saying, the house is simply divine. We have con- . sultants from all over the world. Our game room has Indian decor designed with the help of Tonto, alias JIM JOHN¬ STON and out bedroom is just heavenly, because it was designed by BEV ANGELL (the little devil.) And we even have an outhouse with the theme Jail House Rock. It ' s getting late, I guess we better get going. Hey, it ' s the godfather KEVIN CUNNINGHAM, Where? Over there, he ' s giving the waitress a tip. Let ' s go get some lemonade. The stand is owned by DEBBIE WILLIAMS who ad¬ vertized the specialty as Munga ' s lemonade——pure and natural. I ' ll have a glass. Careful, it ' s bitter, ex¬ plained PATTY COONAN.DONNA THIENEL asked, Do you want some salt and pepper? No thanks, I ' ve had enough sand for one day. She takes a sip, (she Ralphs.) Are you sure this is lemonade? SUE REIL pops up with, It ' s the real thing. That ' s not false, said a girl who ' s always TRUE—LINDA . I want my toothbrush. I think we ' ll have to go buy one. There ' s a Grants over there. CHERYL SHERMAN works there. I ' ll run in—you stay here. Paul can you answer a question for us? asked MUF¬ FIN AYOTTE and SUE DENESHA, running toward me. Do you know what it ' s like to be frustrated? Why don ' t you go ask FRAN CAREY. Well, I got my tooth¬ brush. You should see it in there! JIM ROBIDOUX is in the top section playing hockey against a two year old, and of course, you know who won, and it wasn ' t Jimmy. The music over the loud speaker was played by JOHN RIOPEL who was continuously being interrupted by CHRIS FALK_ Attention Shoppers! Be sure to visit our cosmetic department run by JUDY GOULDING. Look across the street. There ' s MARYANNE ALLEN S Chinese Restaurant. Yes, that ' s right, said NANCY ANDERSON. The menu consists of naked duck, tea, and fortune cookies—a big assortment. There ' s a side dish of B B baked beans made by DAVID BENOIT and BECKY BOISSEL. (If anyone should know about beans— it ' s Nancy) PHILLIS PROCHNOW, who was with Nancy and the gang told us about a cupcake shop owned by DANNY BONARDI and the Old Cupcake himself, TOM CULLAN. Anyway where are you guys going? Oh, didn ' t you hear about the big golf tournament today, asked DARY CARLSON. All the greats are in it--JIM STEPHENS, MIKE CAMARDA, BRIAN LEMERISE, and PUTT HAR¬ MON, the best putter in the world. Do you want to come? No thanks we are thinking of going bowling at BOB FACTEAU ' S or rollerskating at SCOTT HURLEY ' S or maybe to that new game show the Newlywed game, starring BILL MURPHY (who by the way just divorced PAM STONE.) Some of the contestants are JANET FON- GALLEZ, ROSEMARY WOLANSKI, PATTY JYRINGI, and NANCY GURNEY. So, where will we go? Why don ' t we go to MARK GUIFFRIDA ' S meatball palace, said MIKE FHGGINS. They ' re usually American except when INGRID SLAPAK eats there, then they ' re Swedish meatballs. OK, lets go. Should we rent a car from MICHAEL GRIFFIN ' S car rental with RICK DEROSIER as our chauf¬ fer. No, said Mike, We ' ve got legs with us. Who? ANN CASELLO I ' ve got six legs, replied MARISA CANTARA. Huh? Yah, two of my own and four be¬ long to my horse. Ohhh, we immediately began throw¬ ing mmmmm Gays at her. That burns me up, stated DIANE BYRNES. Let f s hurry and get over to the meatball palace, yelled TIM SMITH. I hear DAVE MILLER is selling beer. Really, what kind? asked SHARON O ' BRIEN. RANDY PIERCE replied, With a name like Miller what kind of beer do you think he ' d sell? and CINDY MARTIN cried out, Ohhh, Schlitz Right, said DEBBIE LOGAN. I ' m over here! yelled MARY WRIGHT, What do you want? Beep ! Beep! Beep ! Beep! Beep! What ' s that, ? says MICHELE DUQUETTE. Wait a minute! Listen!, said VAL THOMPSON. Ohhh—that ' s PETER MORSE ' S Code. Look up at that pole. What ' s that flapping in the wind? That ' s CATHY FLAGG, said DEB EDWARDS. She ' s very patriotic! Who ' s that up there with her? That ' s PAM BEMBRIDGE, What ' s she doing up there? Throw¬ ing water! Throwing water! at TOMMY MOORE. How come? She ' s trying to shrink him and make him less. Of course, SUE ROWDEN shouts, How big. It ' s getting late J.K., let ' s go back to the hotel. Bye everybody. Here we all are alone in our hotel room on our wed¬ ding night. Yah, let ' s get down to business, and have some fun. Come on, on the bed, get comfortable, Are you ready? Sure anytime you are, OKAY It ' s your deal, duces wild. As we set foot upon the grounds of L.H. S. in that fall of 1971, we were timid and apprehensive. After gaining a little poise and self-confidence, we decided to get into the swing of things. With Mr. Chasse as our advisor, we elected our class officers—BethGreeney --President, Rosie Wolanski--Vice-President, Sue Rowden—Secretary, and Darlene Ayotte—Treasurer. That year football was the name of the game. Ending with a 9-0 season this was the first undefeated, untied team in the history of L. H. S since 1960. We also won the Southern Worcester County League Title. In basketball, Leicester again took the honor of win¬ ning the league title compiling a record of 16-5. Girls ' basketball finished the season with a 9-5 record. Boys ' baseball team ended with a 11-3 record and participat¬ ed in the Districts ' for the sixth consecutive year. Rosie Wolanski shared another honor as she was the first freshman chosen to participate in the High School Quiz Show, which was broadcast on Channel 27. After an extremely short summer, we began our second year as shy sophomores. Due to double sessions, again we were underclassmen. Older, but not old enough to be recognized by the upperclassmen. Knowing exactly what to do, we chose to start off on the right foot. With Mrs. Avedian as our class advisor, we elected our class officers—Lisa Mattei—president, Rosie Wolanski—Vice- President, Susan Rowden—Secretary, and Rich Connor— Treasurer. Time was closing in quickly as we found our Sopho¬ more class trip suddenly upon us. On a brisk, nazy day in June, two yellow school buses arrived in front of L.H. S. waiting for the anxious sophomores to board. As approxi¬ mately 8:00 we were on our way to Ocean Beach Park, Connecticut. Upon arrival at Ocean Beach Park we found it a cool and hazy day, but as the day progressed and the weather improved, some were still seeing things through hazy eyes. Again football was King of the Field at L.H.S. We had a second undefeated, untied season, running our winning streak to 22 games. In basketball the boys ' fin¬ ished with a 14-6 record, while the girls ' compiled an 11-5 record. Our cheerleaders ' placed 2nd in the David Prouty Tournament. Class History Flashing our rings around for weeks, being juniors was now a reality. With our Junior Prom not all that far away, we real¬ ized we must do first things first. Once again, with Mrs. Avedian as our class advisor, we elected our officers— Mike Camarda—President, Lisa Mattei—Vice-President, Jo-Ann Kalinowski—Treasurer, and Darlene Ayotte— Sceretary. In athletics, our football team had what one would call a rebuilding year. Our girls ' basketball team had an exceptional year, finishing in a tie for the Southern Wor¬ cester County League Title, compiling a record of 12-2. Our cheerleaders captured 3rd place in the David Prouty Tournament and walked away with 2nd place in the Notre Dame of Fitchburg Tournament. For the first time in the history ofL.H.S. we had the beginnings of a new sport for the girls ' —which was field hockey. The golf team—led by Mike Camarda, Jim Stephens, Brian Lem- erise, and Ray Brunnette, who also placed 5th in the Individual State Championship, compiled an amazing record of 16-2, also capturing the Southern Worcester County League Title, In cross-country our boys finished with a 6-6 record. Next on the agenda was the raising of money and finding a location for our Junior Prom. We decided for this prom we would have a little class and chose the Chateau de Ville as the sight of An Eve¬ ning to Remember. On the 14th day of June, we arrived at the Chateau de Ville spellbound by it beauty. Not to brag, but it was stated that we were the most well-behaved group of high school students the Chateau had entertained for a prom. So good in fact, that this years junior class have been invited to have their Junior Prom there also. Our queen was Michele Duquette, and her court con¬ sisted of Darlene Carlson, Colleen Grant, Linda Menard, and Ann-Marie Casello. Our chaperones were Mr. and Mrs. Avedian, Mr. La- Plante, and Mr. and Mrs. Albro. With graduation of the seniors, we knew the school year was coming to an end, and were next in line. With the end of double sessions, we began our so¬ phisticated, fun loving senior year. Senior privileges were now ours--with the underclassmen in the palms of our hands. With Mr. LaPlante making us well aware of our high senior expenses, we elected our class officers, Under the direction of Mrs. Avedian, we chose: Darlene Ayotte— President, Megan Croey—Vice President, Jo-Ann Kal¬ inowski—Secretary, and Bill Murphy--Treasurer. Although our football team had another re-building year, the seasons hard work and effort seemed to be re¬ warded with a victorious romp over David Prouty on Thanksgiving Day. In girls ' basketball, our team led by our new coach, Mrs. Janet Cundall, with co-captains Mary Kay Dykas and Lisa Mattei, had a good year gain¬ ing a record of 15-7. Mary Kay was chosen as a member of the Clark Tournament All-Star Team and Lisa was chosen as a member of the News Recorder All-Star Team. The cross country team led by John Wood, Matt Bren- 112 nan, Kevin Cunningham, Jim Robidoux and freshman Richie Wall finished with a record of 7-4. With two dif¬ ferent cheering squads, the cheerleaders still came through and placed 5th in the David Prouty Tournament. For the last seven months all we heard was, sell those yearbooks, get ads, and get up the money for the class trip. Having money on our minds, we held our senior class play, M A S H. That night there were born many hams and a little one to Klinger. With the last payments, made 67 seniors and 7 chap¬ erones boarded two Worcester Transit Buses on April 21st. By 6:45, we were headed for Washington. Breaking up the monotony of the 8 hour bus ride, we made two scheduled stops, where we were allowed to refresh ourselves. We arrived at the Travel Lodge Motel about 4:00 that after¬ noon. Once our rooms had been assigned and we were organized, everyone was prepared for one thing—PARTY! For some unexplained reason, Tuesday morning seemed to come too early! We boarded the buses about 8:30 for an interesting but exhausting day of touring. We arrived at the Travel Lodge Motel about 5:00, and there was little time for rest or relaxation as everyone was planning a night out at a world-renowned restaurant. On the way back to the Travel Lodge, we were entertained by the one and only Kevin Cunningham doing his famous strip tease act. We saw many interesting and educational sights. By the way, Do you all know that the life ex¬ pectancy of a dollar bill is 18 months? Pleasepeople, --Keep the line moving! Celebrating our last night in Washington, Thursday morning came too soon. We had arranged to be at the zoo at 9:00, but some people were still sleeping at 8:00. After waiting four years for this class trip, it was now closing rapidly. Leaving the doors on the hinges and the rooms intact?, we must admit this was the best senior class trip. We would like to thank the chaperones, Mr. Uncle Norm and LaPlante, Mrs. April One Avedian, Mrs. Auntie Ruthie and Mr. Uncle Jerry Matte, Mr. Little River Brooks, Mrs. Betty Crocker, and Mrs. Cuddley Kitty Cur¬ rier, for making this fantastic trip possible. On June 1, 1975, at 7:00 at the William Paul House, we held our Senior Dinner Dance. This was the last formal gathering of the Senior Class, and an evening for us all to remember. As we keep the line moving, time is drawing near to leave the halls of L.H.S. Graduation is only one day away. We realize this has been a part of our life that will never fade from our memories. May we the Senior Class thank Mr. Toepfer for his personal interest in us and our proj ects, for making our final year more meaningful through his understanding and generous help. It goes without saying, we thank you, the members of the administration, the faculty, and the stu¬ dent body for making the last four years a memorable experience.
