LPXSS HISTO Y In 1942, a freshman class, buzzing with excitement, proud of being fresh- men, trooped to Lehman High School. Nothing but fun on the brain, they stayed four years, and, now, in 1946, they are leaving. School was fun in '42 and '43. We had loads of parties and great times. We were swell-headed over the fact that we had the title of Freshmen, and we made no bones about it. We gave assembly programs, had parties at friends' houses, and as all classes do, deviled the life out of the teachers. September, 1943, we returned! A summer of sun and fresh air had taught us to be strong. Names like Paul Salansky, William Klansek, Loren Cragle, Harold Cornell, Dorothy Niezgoda, Ethel Ide, soon found their way into the school's sports. The coaches were proud of these Sopha. We made a name for ourselves in 1943. We were Juniors in '44, laughing, devilish monsters, who gave many a teacher gray hair. We were getting into the swing of things by then. The age-old fights between Seniors and Juniors lent the year flying feet, es- pecially when William Klansek and Bertha Dribelbis were put in the Senior Play. Our own play, under the direction of Miss Owens, took up our time during the last half of that year. nlhat Crazy Smith Family' was very appro- priate considering our own antics that year. Our only sorrow that year was in losing our favorite teacher, Mr. Crum. In '45, William Johnson took over as president, and our Senior year was started. From the smoke of the election, Harold Cornell, emerged with the title of vice-president, Dorothy Niezgoda as secretary, Frances Elencik as treasurer, and Irma Calkins as class historian. Our Senior Play, under the direction of Mr. Ikeler, occupied our thoughts from November until the 13th and l4th of December. 'SeventeenU added to the fun of being Seniors. After that, the Christmas Dance. On a cold morning in March, the hissing of air brakes told us that the bus had arrived. Why? To take us to Philadelphia, of course. We had a glorious time those three days stolen from school time. Harrisburg, Millersville, Middletown, Lancaster, none of them escaped our searching eye in those three days. Now, to all those things, we're saying 'good-byen, but in our memory they will live forever. ,f ssxlrea 22
