foreword Carmichael has returned to Lehman! Who is Carmichael? asks a wee, small freshman voice. Well, my child, Carmichael is the spirit of Lehmanites past, present, and future. He is the symbol of Eskie loyalty which is ever present throughout the school day. This furry symbol is present among the teachers as they gather in the morning. As the seniors leave Lehman—the building, Carmichael—the spirit, goes with them. In the halls or classrooms, he accompanies all students. At any dance or social affair, one can see Carmichael having fun with the rest. At an athletic event, the enthusiasm shown by Hilltoppers is another indication that he is there. Come with us now, the Polaris staff of 1960, and see this loyalty as it appears in the school life at Lehman. 2
