SOPHOMORES (Jetting off to a tremendous start, the class of 1958-1959 elected Bill McClelland, president; Peggy Klliott, vice-president; Karen Callahan, secretary; and Karen Fleming, treasurer. These officers were in charge of the Freshman-Sophomore party held on April 26. Cute and petite Cathy Wise was elected attendant to the Football Queen. Participating in A Cappclla Choir were Mike Beamer, Shirley Cassidy, Maxine Figler, Albert Konchar, Barbara LaYery, Lanny I.inn, Larry McNeill, Rusty Ricfer, Steve Schmidt, Karen I'lnicr, and Susan Wenger. The sophomores who played varsity basketball were Bob Flcisher, Dale Hughes, Jim Jeffries, Frank Jones, and Kent Smith. The reserve basketball team included Whitney Ake, Jim Bailey, Jack Bverly, Ralph Carlone, Ronnie Foltz, Roger Greene, Jim Ivan, Bill Rudner, Mike Rust, Jim Shroyer, Mike Smith, Jim Taylor, and George Vasilion. Serving on the varsity football team were John Fehlman, Bob Graham, Jim Jeffries, Frank Jones, Kent Smith, and George Vasilion. Whitney Ake, Bob Bergmeyer, Rick Christian, Jeff Evans, John Kinsey, Mike Rust and Mike Smith played on the reserve football team. Taking part in various National Forensic League activities were Ray Adelman, Mark Appel- baum, and Richard Hervey. Working on the Polaris Editorial Staff were Judy Jones, Bonnie Maust, and Charles Snec. Lois Goldstein was on the Polaris Business Staff. Participating in the fall play, “January Thaw,” were Mark Appelbaum and Kent Guerney. Marcia Mills, Steve Schmidt, Charles Snee, Jerry Hecht, Kent Guerney, and Mark Appelbaum appeared in “Father Knows Best,” the spring play. Acting as class guardians and giving their able advice on all matters were Mrs. Wagner, Mr. Shafer, Mr. Gross, Mr. Blackman, Miss Patton, Miss Heinrichs, Mr. Gocttlcr, and Miss Long. 28
