We the staff of the 1956 I ehman Polaris take extreme pleasure in introducing to you that great literary expert Byron the irrepressible bookworm. Let us tell you a little bit about him. When he was very young just 1 larva his parents found him eating through one of Lord Byron s classics. Because of this early evidence of good taste they christened him By ron. He seemed very pleased for he felt the name was suitable for his debonair disposition. Our Byron is not only an expert in the literary held but he is also very much interested in athletics. He does not participate in many sports because he has a tendency to trip over his own feet but he cheers for Lehman on the sidelines with the rest of us. So now vsithout further ado we present Byron the bookworm. Byron will you say a few words . . . ww sssyssyfs -N wk 3 NQXXNNN NNN R Mwxwwmmgtvly iuwtfvl XMAS BNN Pardon my smug smile but I lust finished a truly delectable mor sel the 1956 Polaris It s a delicious smorgasbord of the vear s ac tivities Oh what a good year this must haye been for you 2 Maul I l l l I - . I remember one time I hadjust started my way through a Latin book when some unfortunate student picked up the book by accident. She took the book to class . . . opened it to where I was . . . screamed, and ofcourse I got out of there pretty fast. I never will forget the look on that teacher's facel Pupils at Lehman recall the way IR. was always kidding Mr. YYatts in the pep assemblies . . . how simple it was to get Mr. Bowling to talk about golf fin its sea- son, of coursej instead of plane geometry . . . Miss Willett and her nerve-racking research themes . . . and Bev Smith demonstrating how one stands on one's head properly. Yes, you'll always remember your faculty at Lehman as a swell group . . . always with your interests at heart. They finally made lt' The seniors I mean After eleven years of toil they at last made the grade Seniors are very essential to a school who else would have the courage to take English IV or physics? Who but a senior could successfully reserve the first row seats at every football and basketball game? They are top-brass at the prom and privileged characters around graduation time. Our seniors remember the football games Cespecially those with Timkenb . . . t e terrific pep assemblies . . . the wonderful band . . . e rush for the door and crowded halls fright around 3:30, . . . but above all they will remember class day bacca- laureate and graduation. Seniors awe the freshmen . . ignore the sophomores . . . and givexjuniors inferiority complexes. Still they manage to be pretty wonderful. S fl lFlTEiXl Q Us LINELL ASHWORTH 4924 Cleveland Ave. N. W. These words are echoed at all your games and from the looks of your football and basket- ball season the teams took you at your words. As a bookworm, I certainly have my problems on the basket- ball court . . . my feet get a bit tangled up now and theng but once I do get them untangled, I'm a regular terror. I can dribble with all twelve legs! I could never play football as well as your boys did, but then . . . who could? There's only one time I'd rather speetate . . . that's when the girls are playing volleyball or basket- ball. Everyone is proud of the records that the 1956 Polar Bears have made in sports. x, '47n,,., ' gi Q.
