Review of the Stars In the fall of 1937 about 240 stand-ins and extras enrolled in Lehman High School. Many of them began at once to try out for important roles in the Lehman Panorama. The first year of their apprenticeship brought assignments to actors Uebing and Santora as freshman athletes, while Don Krammes was elected leader of the ap- prentices. Ralph Lind and Dick Beiter drew roles as slush-pump artists in the band. The sophomore year proved to be a gala premier for Iennie Streb, who was elected football attendant. This was the year Iohn Root first sported an immacu- late V-8 and Iohn Schick began his career as student manager. Iournalist McCurdy was coming into her own as a member of the Polaris staff. The third season brought more major parts to these extras and stand-ins. Booster Club officers were provided by this class, and Marjorie Pitts was a stand-in for Miss Herbst on Leadership Day. Inseperable combinations of the year could be found in Ierry Nusbaum with his camera, George Kittoe with his drums, and ,Qene Roderick with Helen, Alcorn. The King, Schworm, Krauskopf combination with their music and comedy was just coming to the fore- ground. Beauty honors went to Ann Shut- tleworth when she was chosen as prom queen attendant. The Hook-Krammes ro- mance entered into its fourth year as a steady affair with the closing of the season. The fourth year proved to be a year of major roles for those same stand-ins who had entered in the fall of '37. Carl Cline was chosen president of National Hon- or Societv: Bill Doll captained the basket- ball team, and Kathryn Reed served as head drum majorette for the band. Everyone agreed at the end of the four- year run at Lehman that it was one of the most enjoyable and profitable experiences he had ever had.
