The alumni band broke its instruments out early to prepare their musical shows and to limber up rusty limbs and lips. Students and faculty returned, eager to get busy, renewing old friendships and making new ones. Lehman means family. Everyone studies together, works together, plays together and prays together. Students greet new courses. The seniors welcome the freshmen with spirit week and creative costumes. As the fall days grow short, students bear down to make their year the best ever. 3 fW x 3h 'fa 46 u ,- O ' K Q 'fav' ' ' if , I , y L Maw W X sf A, wx W Wmfwf 4 X WWW ff' EM ya +5372 X if ! ,7 f 4 f M W , af ,sf ' 5 ff 5 , ,,,,, 4 W .... Religion played a major role among students and faculty at Lehman. Mass every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings welcomed students and faculty. Religion classes tor all students were a vital part of student life. Special religious services throughout the year continued to strenghten the spiritual fibre of everyone in the Lehman family. Eighty-six saw a unique spiritual retreat experience tor the seniors whose individual experience gave the special inspiration to the class. Lehman students carried their religion beyond the classroom into the Nation's capital and The March for Life, and into lftne Rice Bowlf' 5 5 ig, -.m,,..,...,.w.w.Nw .. A Mm: . This musical is the story of a sharpshooter Annie Oakley, born in Darke County, Ohio, in 1860. At the age of 14, she won a shooting match against Frank Butler, a performer with Buffalo Bill Wild West Show. Annie, at the request of Buffalo Bill, joins the show and eventually becomes a bigger star than Frank who becomes jealous and joins a rival show run by Pawnee Bill. Finally, the two shows join and Annie and Frank fall in love, marry and, of course, live happily ever after. Katie Dunson played Annie Oakley and Tom Froning played Frank Butler. The play was under the direction of Gail Brandewie and Elaine Schweller. h... if j R3 Stl can A. Starting out as a huddled mass of scared freshmen, we are now ready to face the world more independently. Through our years at Lehman our class became one - working and striving to meet every challenge. From our sleeping Cavalier to hot air balloons, our class has made a united effort on float building. We tried everything to raise money. We sold candy, sold programs, sold doughnuts and held ratfles. We provided an evening in Almost Paradise at the prom and planned a fantastic homecoming. We spent hours together at band camps, summer football practices and on the field, court and track. Working side by side hammering nails, pushing paint brushes and practicing lines for the play, we built lasting friendships. After coming off a championship year in 1984, the Cavaliers wanted to repeat the feat. A pre-season scrimmage against Sidney showed great Cavalier strength. The promise of a great season remained after an opening victory over Graham. After that, the power of the schedule shattered Cavalier hopes. The teams whom the Cavs had defeated in 1984 were strong and waited with vigor to defeat the Cavaliers. They finished the season 1-9. Dave Ross, WMVR Sports Director, labeled the championship game which saw Ottawa Hills, near Detroit, pluck victory from the Cavaliers in 11 innings by an 8 to 7 score. 1 The Cavs, behind the pitching of Tom Froning and Mike Ciriegio, built leads of 4-1 and 5-2 in the first seven inning! only to see Ottawa Hills tie the score to put the game into overtime. 1 1 Lehman then took a 7-5 lead in the top of the 11th inning, but Ottawa Hills took advantage of three Cavalier errors in the bottom of the eleventh to win the game 8-7. 1 The Cavs lost six of their seven games early in the season, but once they found the right combinations, they continued to win until that wet Saturday afternoon at Ohio State. The Cavs started tournament play by whipping top-seeded Anna 5-4. They drubbed Houston 21-1 and took Fort Loramie into extra innings to win on a Mike Ciriegio home run, 8-7. Lehman took the District championship by beating South Eastern, 11-3. They topped Middletown Finwick 11-4 and edged Twin Valley South 5-3 to earn the Regional crown. ln a rain delayed game, the Cavs came from behind to dump Franklin Furnace Green 9-7 in their first test in Columbus. 1 xr E: ,Y . ,haf-v 114 ' V f W . . , .EV VV V Q H J Wa jk i g L. , if ,gg f .
