BAMBIL LZHZOI OSS Presrdent Vlce Presldent Secretary Treasurer H1stor an Class Advlsor Class Colors Class Motto zstor Raymond Behrtg Iohn Deutsch Betty Frable Iohn Goldbach Ruby Merssner Harold Oswald Purple and Gold We can and we w1ll On September 8 l936 226 fresnmen entered the1r last year rn Iun1or h1gh scnool 'lhls group of freckled faced sun tanned boys and g1rls was our own class of 4U We were among the frrst to elect our class offlcers and under the gutdance ot our adv1sor then Mr Obert we later selected our class motto flower and colors A month later our presldent chose a Halloween com mtttee who were to dec1de IH what fash1on we should enter the parade we were awarded t1rst prlze tor the largest school d1v1s1on m l1ne After th1s event we focused our attentton on the extra currtcular act1v1t1es Our class was rep resented m numerous cl.1bs orchestra and the gym team In basketball the boys although only freshles broke trad1t1on by endmg tled w1th Jun1ors for second place ln 1937 we returned No longer were we green Freshmen but sophls ttcated bophomores eager to make our flISl year 1n the Senlor h1gh a success Our ftrst step was to repeat me procedure of the prevlous year that IS to elect class offlcers and enter the parade Agam we recelved f1rst prlze for the largest group Later durmg the semester a group of Blology students 1n order to further thelr 1nterest ln the sublect traveled to New York for the annual Fleld Tr1p Before we real1zed 1t the basketball season was upon us Once more the boys won recognltlon thxs t1me they were the Inter Class champlons Unfortunately the g1rls d1d not fare as well but thelr record was worth com mentlng upon ln all act1v1t1es members of our class were trymg to uphold our standard and make our class outstand1ng 1938 found us Iumors awartmg the day when Mr Oswald our adv1sor would begm work on the Gachtm Bambtl Before th1s day however we fol lowed the custom of electtng offtcers and enter1ng the parade Once more we won f1rst prlze th1s t1me for the best dressed Frrst place IH basketball was agam taken by the boys whlle the g1rls were t1e for second On February 19 our class presented Sprmgtxme for Suste a three act farce by Iames S Stone Mr VVagner dlrected the productlon whrch pro led to be a success Although our class has decreased to l6l students those remamlng are Slf1VlV1Q to fulflll our motto, We can and we w1ll l'rlru I' lftl 1 n j I I ' i ...... ...... . ...... .... .
