I 1, -4- 54? llialkix -L -1-- --1 ---- -----t s..- -- ' SENIGR CLASS HISTORY September 7, 1926. a group of ambitious students passed through the portals of Lehighton High School to begin the first stage of their high school career. This class numbered one hundred and thirty-three. Their first class meeting was called by Mr. Stofflet. the faculty advisor. on October 19. for the purpose of organization. At this meeting the officers were elected and a flower and motto were adopted. The only social event of the year was the Hallowelen party held in the gym. The class was well represented in inter- class basketball although neither team won a championship. They also entered the annual Halloween parade and received favorable comment on their first undertaking. One hundred and fifteen members of the class came back in the fall of 1927. to enter the Sophomore class. As Sophomores. they made a good show- ing in athletics. Four girls and five boys made the varsity basketball teams. In varsity baseball three members of the class were on the team. while in football one member of the class was on the varsity. Two members of the class were representatives on the gym team. On Xovember 19. the Fresh- man Sophomore football game was played. After a hard struggle the Fresh- man team won by a I3 to 6 score. In interclass basketball the boys' team played two games and won one. The girls. however. were much more for- tunate. They played two games and won both of them. The class was also fairly well represented in the orchestra and band. They took part in the Hal- lowe'en parade and benefited by the previous year's experince. lu September. l923. one hundred and ten members of the original class of one hundred and thirty three returned for the third stage of their high school career. The class was still more fortunate in sports by having six boys on the boys' varsity basketball team. and five on the varsity football team. four girls on the girls' varsity basketball team. and one boy and one girl on the gym team. In interclass basketball the boys came out second having played three games. lost one. The girls again won every one of the three games played. After some very spectacular playing the class football team, headed by XYesley Kreidler, won the Sophomore-Junior game. All these things were great in their way but a greater task lay ahead. the publishing of the annual yearbook. To raise money for the yearbook. on january l0. l929. the annual Junior Class play was given. The play rendered was Seventeen. by Booth Tarkington. As an added source of revenue the class opened a candy stand which was still more popular and successful than the refresh- ment stand at the Fair and games. The class entered the Hallowe'en parade and won second prize. It was the great work upon the part of the staff and the earnest efforts of the class to raise the money that made the 1930 Gachtin Bambil the largest and most successful that was ever published in l.. H. S. The social event of the year was the Hobo Party. At this novel party everyone Ceven the teachersj had to come dressed as hoboes. GACHTIN BAMBIL Page twenty-one
