It doesn ' t seem as if it has been three years since we were green Freshmen, but it has, and we are proud to be Juniors. Give us one more year and we will show you that we can graduate too. Our Junior Class consists of only fourteen members, which means when there is work to be done, we have heavy loads to carry. We are making money now to give our Junior-Senior Banquet. President Calvin Anderson Vice President - - Doris Hyde Secretary Curtis O ' Neal Treasurer Anne Hardy TWO DOWN AND TWO TO If we can do two, we can do four. Just give us time and we ' ll show you what we can do. We ' ve finished this business of being Sopho- mores. At the next stop we ' re Juniors. FRESHMEN President SHELBY JEAN COOKE Vice President - BOB DUPREE Secretary EVELYN WEBB Treasurer - - BOBBY ROGISTER ONLY TIME WILL TELL This year has told us one thing and that is that we can do work if we make up our minds to do it. True, some of what we learned, we got it the hard way, but next year we ' ll know the ropes. Make room for us, we ' re no longer Green Freshmen we have experience. SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADES THIRD AND FOURTH GRADES FIRST AND SECOND GRADES TIME FOR LEISURE When we are not in classes, we need outside interests. Let ' s see what Leggett students do with their extra time. Outside interests are a part of every student ' s schedule. Clubs, publications, and other outside activities help the student in his social development. DRAMATICS CLUB JR. 4-H CLUB SR. 4-H CLUB 4-H work means better living for many people. Our clubs have en- riched the economic, cultural, and social life of our community and nation. JR. GLEE CLUB GLEE CLUB I ' ll Take A Bicycle Anytime You ' re Not Behind The Plow All A ' s Are Not Made In Class ATHLETICS FIGHT RED DEVILS FIGHT All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Therefore Leggett students take time out for recreation. Yes, football, basketball, softball, and baseball. Excellent teams attracted the attention of many. CHEER LEADERS Team support by the students is one of the big musts of a winning team, and good cheerleaders are essential for good teams. These cheerleaders have done a wonderful job. Let ' s go Red Devils! FOOTBALL The Red Devils played well against excellent competition. In a thrilling game with Belhaven; last year ' s powerhouse and Eastern champions, the score was close. The Red Devils gave the Bulldogs a real scare leading them 16-12 in the third quarter. After many hours of work in all kinds of weather with our Coach G. C. Dixon, our ef- forts were rewarded in the game with Chicod. In a downpour of rain the Devils de- feated Chicod 18-12. After much hard work in preparation for the final game of the season, Leggett easily defeated William R. Davie 26-14. The girls ' basketball team started the season with a bang. They have a hard working group. Under their new coach, Mr. Wall, they are making steady progress. They have won the county championship for the last three years. Come on girls! Let ' s make it four. GIRLS ' BASKETBALL 1952-53 brought a new and better basketball team to our school. The team can be proud of its record. Its coach Mr. White can equally be proud of his work. BOYS ' BASKETBALL Ahl ' Tis spring! And with spring comes softball. When you see softball at Leggett you see some very talented girls. Hit that apple, girl! SOFTBALL Here they are! Leggett ' s 1953 baseball team. You boys have a man size job cut out for yourselves, if you hope to better last year ' s 15-5 record. Keep your eye on the ball, boys.
