CLASS HISTORY We began our high school career, at Leggett, in the fall of 1946. At that time eight boys and twelve girls were enrolled. We were instructed this year by a faculty of nine. FACULTY Mr. P. S. White, Principal Mr. David Pittman, English Reverend L. W. Kessler, History Miss Betty Atkins, English Miss Kate Standfield, Math-Latin Mr. Mance Bogey, English Miss Virginia Carraway, Home Economics-Biology Mr. H. N. Cherry, Agriculture In September, 1947 we enrolled at a loss of four of our freshmen members. During this year typing was introduced as a regular subject. Various clubs were also organized in the high school department. A few of our members participated in physical activities. FACULTY Mr. P. S. White, Principal Miss Kate Stanfield, Math-Latin Colonel Worth Wicker, History Mr. H. N. Cherry, Agriculture Miss Virginia Carraway, Home Economics-Biology Miss Oliver Sollee, English-Typing We were a class of twelve in our Junior year. This year we lost the splendid instruction of Miss Kate Stanfield, due to ill health. We were happy to have Mrs. Warren our former Miss Jean Cherry to work with us dLu'ing the remainder of the year. Also two young teachers, Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Dixon, were added to our faculty this year. Under their leadership we accompanied the seniors to Williamsburg, Virginia. Early this year Mrs. Dixon organized and ably directed our high school glee club in which we had a large number. The high light of this year was the J unior-Senior Banquet which was held in our gymnasium. FACULTY Mr. P. S. White, Principal Mr. G. C. Dixon, History-Science Miss Virginia Carraway, Home Economics-Biology Mrs. G. C. Dixon, English-Typing Mrs. Paul Warren, Math Mr. H. N. Cherry, Agriculture The fall of 1949 we found that we had lost one member from our class. With a class of eleven we had a full year. At Halloween we gave a Carnival which was well supported by the Community. Om' senior play, presented under the direction of Mr. Dixon, was well received by the audience. Our advisor, Mrs. Dixon, aided us in the publication of the third edition of, Memories of 1950 . Our social activities this year were climaxed by the Junior-Senior Banquet. FACULTY Mr. P. S. LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT We, the Seniors of 1950, of Leggett High School, leave to the Juniors all our wordly possessions hoping that they will be better used in the following year. Pat White leaves her way with boys to Irene Norris and Janice Pollard. Arm Draughon leaves her dignity and quietness to Joan Everette. Frankie Kirkland leaves to William Briley, and Victor Edwards his talking ability. Myrtle Lucas leaves her long curls to Lorraine Coker. Georgianna Armstrong leaves to Martha J ones her talking of dates. Virgil Kirkland leaves to David Wadsworth, E. C. Pollard, and Preston Harrell his ambition to succeed in LOVE. Doris Denton leaves her silly remarks to Myrlean Manning. Alma Jones leaves her stoutness to Dorothy Barnes. Joseph Dupree leaves to Roy Riddick, Franklin Hardy, and Bill Rogister, his way of making girls swoon. Grace Vick leaves her loving to dance to Lois Anderson. G. B. Causway leaves to Tom Moore and Charles Dupree his MOTTO, ALWAYS AT THE RIGHT PLACE. Charles Corbett leaves to J. C. Vick and Vernon Joyner his ability to speak French. G. B. Corbett leaves to Richard Riddick, his cute remarks. Signed: Alma Jones, Testator PROPHECY My husband and I were taking the kids out for a ride one day in our lincoln and I met one of my old school chums and she gave the following news of my classmates. Grace Vick is now a dance teacher of small children in Tarboro, and she has quite a large number of children, including hers. Georgianna Armstrong who married a week after graduation is living in Lawrence and she sends her kids to Tarboro to her Sister-in-law for dancing lessons. Frankie Kirkland is playing baseball with the New York Yankees and he's another Babe Ruth. Pat White is living on a farm out from Leggett with her husband and raising Dears. G. B. Corbett is now teaching agriculture at Leggett, because Mr. Cherry has retired. Ann Draughon is going to college at W.C, U. N.C. , but coming home soon to marry her Leggett Dream Boy. Virgil Kirkland owns his own farm over in Lawrence and is waiting for the Wedding bells Myrtle Lucas is Working at the Telephone office in Tarboro and calls out in the country from Tarboro every day. I guess you know why? Charles Corbett attended Carolina College for four years, then returned to Leggett to teach French. Doris Denton opened her own Beauty Parlor in Leggett and is turning out hairdos like Mrs. Dixon wears. G. B. Causway has made the army his career, while his wife waits for him at home. Joseph Dupree has his own program, YOU CAN SUCCEED BY MAKING SILLY REMARKS. and is broadcasting from PSWC Leggett. I hope that in the next ten years my classmates will make as much progress as they have in the last. As I look back and think of the old gang at school and how silly we all were, I can hardly believe that they have achieved as much as they have in the past, and I'm hoping more success will come their way in the Future, so they can all SUCCEED. Alma Jones, Prophetess u
