CLASS HISTORY We began our high school career in the fall of 1944 at Speed. Twelve of us, on our first day in high school, began dreaming of our last one. We had an excellent teaching staff which made for us a successful year of fun and learning. FACULTY Miss Christine Britt, Principal, Mrs. Mittie Spencer, History Math, Science Mr. F.G.Lewis, Agriculture Mr. C.E.Barrett, English When sixteen of us found ourselves entering Leggett High School in '44, we had a new principal and practically a new faculty to greet us. The war was raging, but we managed to have a few parties and a lot of good times. FACULRY Mr. H.S.Brown, Principil Miss Alice Snipes, Home Economids Mrs. Bill Long, English History Mr. H.N.Cherry, Agriculture Our sophomore year at Speed was guided by many new members on the teaching staff. We were welcomed by a new principal, Mr. C.E.Bland, who helped us in many ways, including the organizing of a Beta Club. FACULTY Mr. C.E.Bland, Principal, History Mrs. Mildred Bell, English Mrs. Mittie Spencer, Civics Mr. F.G.Lewis, Agriculture Our sophomore year at Leggett Prospered under a new principal and faculty. The number in our class was about fifteen. We helped publish a school paper, The Leggett Lantern. FACULTY Mr. P.S.White, Principal Miss Bean Cherry, Math Mrs. Carolyn Lloyd, English, History Mr. H.N.Cherry, Agriculture In 1946 Leggett and Speed High Schbhls were consolidated at Leggett. We had Twenty-two members of the Junior Class. The Junior-Senior banquet took place on April 18th and it was a very beautiful and impressive event. CLASS OFFICERS Miss Rachel Penwell, President Mr. Bobby Grimes, Vice-president Miss Rosa Lee Brake, Secretary Mr. William Moore, Treasurer FACULTY Mr. P.S.White, Principal Mr. David Pittman, Mr. L.W.Kessler, History Miss Betty Atkins, Miss Kate Stanfield, Math Mr. Mance Bogey, English Aiss Virginia Carraway, H.Ec. Mr. H.N.Cherry, Agriculture Nineteen of us began our senior year in the fall of '47. The class sold ads and bought the school new stage curtains. The 4-H Club put lockers in the high school. The first edition of the annual was published by the senior class. And thus ended our high school days, much to our sorrow, in a grand school, under the best of teachers, and in a wonderful community.
