Every student, school employee,, administrator, parent and School Board Member has every right to be proud of your school and the successful programs conducted at Leesville High School. My very best wishes to each of you for many years of good health and happiness. I know you will prize this yearbook in future years to a greater degree than you do now. It is truly a record book of treasured. memories Sincerely, C. Creighton Owen Superintendent In past years I have written in this space of the justifiable pride exhibited by the students, and particularly the seniors, of Leesville High School. This year, the. tenth anniversary of my principalship at this unique school, it is ap- propriate to write briefly of my pride in being associated with you. It would be impossi- ble in this limited space even to list the accomplishments of our students and faculty during this past year. However, the words and photographs on the pages which follow have recorded for posterity far better than could I many of the reasons why we never tire of telling parents, students and other educators about Leesville High School A superior music department; an outstanding year in interscholastic competition; the best clubs and activities in our state; and of course, a superior academic program as evidenced by Seven National Merit Semi-Finalists, by military academy appointments, and Dr. John Dempsey having been named both Louisiana Teacher of the Year and Louisiana Science Teacher of the Year, and many other accomplishments are prideful instances of an outstanding year at Leesville High School. I no longer believe Leesville High School to be the Best AAA School in Louisiana. Rather I now believe Leesville High School to be The Best School in Louisiana — and I would defy anyone to disprove me! Together, we the students, faculty and staff, have made this happen. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of it. p R J C J P fl 13 God bless you. H. Lynn Russell The 1982 Wampus Cat Staff dedicates this yearbook to a teacher whose helpful ser- vices reach out to help many departments besides his own. Without his help there would be blank pages in the yearbook; homecoming would not be as beautiful; and some of the dances would not have such novel decorations. It is for these and many more outstanding feats that we chose bim as the recipient of this honor. His students also appreciate his tireless efforts and ministrations in preparation for the art festival. He plays an important role in making our school the best triple A school in Louisiana.
