Text from Pages 1 - 224 of the 1979 volume:

v It is with great appreciation that we, the 1979 Wampus Cat Staff, dedicate this Wampus Cat to Mrs. Joy Russell. We dedicate this book to Mrs. Russell because of her many contributions to Leesville High School and its students. She spends endless hours just to see that our high school days are enjoyable ones. Much of her time is spent just lis- tening to our problems and helping us cope with them. Everything she does is toward the better- ment of each and every student here at L.H.S. We dedicate this yearbook to Mrs. Russell in appreciation for her loyalty to us. 3 4 Hi-Lites —B 8 Hi-Lites Yearbook Message C. Creighton Owen Superintendent The events you have recorded in this yearbook are an indication of your pride in your school, your accomplish- ments, and in each other. Everyday events pictured here will become treasured moments as the years pass. I hope that you will look back on the past year as a milestone in your edu- cation ... a year in which you flour- ished emotionally and educationally. You have my best wishes for a chal- lenging and rewarding future. C. Creighton Owen, Superintendent Vernon Parish Schools Mr. Gene Koury Mr. A. C. Dowden Mr. C. A. Principal JAMES KITTS Curriculum Director Mr. Webster has defined pride as Ma reasonable or justi- fiable self-respect . If I had to choose one single word to describe the Class of 1979, that one word would be pride , a pride that is based on the delight and exhul- tation of contribution and sharing rather than the dis- dain or arrogance of possession or ownership. The Seniors of '79 have shared with the school and the community selflessly. They have contributed to the worth and growth of Leesville High School by positive acts of excellence in academic endeavors, in sportsmanship and in all aspects of extra- and co-curricular actvities. They have set an example for others to emulate. Justifiable self-respect is an inherent value or ethic which accompanies a person through life and makes living meaningful and full. It also is a legacy to be nurtured and amplified by all who follow. The Seniors of 1979 have pride. We have pride in them. Sincerely id-4 H. Lynn Russell. Ph.
